Your an idiot. You do not even make any sense. Drop the crack pipe and put down the nyquil. What the f does "as long as they looks legal, its okay to bone them i guess" WTF? Make some sense ahat. What "is looks its the age" mean? Not trying to be harsh but again WTF? The movie was great and your another sick fck looking for sick beep that does not exist. Take a break and go back to FB and find a real topic. The best line is: "just because she cant grow old doesnt mean she is not an old person.. physical looks does not matter, unless she is a shallow psycho" huh? I am not even going to try.

Shallow? Because someone has a different subjective opinion on sexuality than you do? Give me a break. As long as someone is 18 years of age, they are considered an adult and have the right to choose who to be with, and yes that includes sexually. Just because you find it creepy that younger people sleep with much older people doesn't mean squat. You subjective opinion is just one of millions of subjective opinions on the matter. Don't get me wrong, your entitled to your opinion on this matter, but to push your opinion on others or criticize others for having an opinion that differs from your own..well, that is comical at best. Actually, not accepting and respecting that different people have different opinions, values, etc. and are entitled to those opinions is a child's mentality.
Still Shooting With Film! -

Adaline sleeps with William's son. I'm sorry, if we replaced Adeline with a guy and had him sleep with the much younger daughter of the woman he was sleeping with 50 years ago, I doubt modern women would be swooning over this..
Women are great romantics. I think you are wrong. -

So what your saying is, as long as my 12 year old daughter looks 23 its totally not creepy for her to date 23 year olds. This is where this is a problem. I don't care how old you look if you have to emotional mentality of a peach you probably shouldn't be dating Einstein. With these characters we aren't talking about 20 years or even 40. Some of these immortals are centuries older than their lovers. Thats beyond an age gap thats lifetimes of differences and knowledge. We learn so little while we are on this earth. These people are essentially Gods of knowledge after a few decades. Thats whats gross about it. Its like me dating my innocent dog who will never really know anything in this world and will die fairly soon while I'll know how to speak Russian in a few years and study Socrates. Adaline and that man were not on the same level at all. She knew so much more than him. She was so much wiser and that would ultimately be their downfall. He would just hold her back.

No, her body was 109 years old. It just looked young.
Does that mean teenagers who mature early should be having sex earlier than others their same age? Does it mean people in their 20s who are still baby-faced should be banned from having sex? -

Age doesn't matter. What matters is whether 2 people can have an emotional connection. Some people are more or less mature than other people from their age group.
ADALINE
&
ELLIS
seem to be on the same let's call it "level." EDWARD & BELLA's relationship is wrong, but not because of their age. There countless boards, blogs and I think even books about their unhealthy co-dependance -

If an immortal being is in a sexual relationship with a mortal being, I do not see it as creepy if the immortal being has the physical appearance of the mortal being.
Why should it be creepy? What if the immortal being is 1,000 years old. Should that immortal being stop having sexual relationships and live out a solitary existence for the rest of eternity? After all, there is no way for this being to be with anyone his own age. -

Yeah kinda. I recently read "Pandora's star" by Peter Hamilton again and it deals with similar these. People can rejuvenate in the future and the oldest are now like 400 years old. And none of this "oh no I wish I could grow old and die" crap either lol. Anyway in the book there is also a taboo of older people having sex with "first lifers" but many do of course. Reminded me of vapirism.
Ultimately I think the taboo is about biology though and also power dynamic. Young naive people are easy to impress and control with gifts / money. -

finally a decent response on the age dynamic. the real trouble is simply that: the older partner is likely to have more power in the relationship by virtue of his/her greater knowledge. the older partner could also be more economically endowed, which means the younger partner is placed in a sort of "disadvantage".
of course, there are also gold-diggers, if you would pardon the term. whether it is socially condoned or not, it is ultimately down to those involved to be aware of their own circumstances and manage each other's expectations. as long as there is a significant age difference, these age-related issues will always crop up, even if friends and family avoid bringing it up.
now, although immortality is clearly fictional, advances in medical knowledge, lifestyle choices and better living conditions do allow people to look young for many more years. this means that large age differences between couples are not only going to become more common, the gap is probably going to increase too. in fact, blake lively is 11 years younger than her husband ryan reynolds, and nobody even thinks that's a sizeable gap anymore. emotional compatibility is definitely the most important factor, but people who bring up the ick-factor based on age alone you might be harbouring some old-fashioned discrimination.
if you had a daughter and she's seeing a man 20 years her senior, how would you approach it? what if you reversed the genders? -

Well the older I get the less I see this as an issue hahaha. Talk about bigotry.
But yeah the whole "if you had a daughter" is an explanation for a whole lot of these moral rules. I guess ethically it's the extension of viewing and action and talking about the consequences it will have for those involved to the "categorical imperative" - what if everybody would be doing this? Would it be good then? So even dirty old men have daughters and granddaughters they don't want to see exploited.
But yeah generally I really see the ethics more rooted in biology. We want young women because they are more fertile and give us children, but it's frowned upon because an old man can just keel over and leave the women and kids defenseless and poor.
So in the end I don't think there is really anything wrong with this. Just because it's creepy (morality) doesn't mean it's any of anybodies business. Well except that as a young man you don't want to see the pool of potential partners drained by rich old powerful guys.
And yeah it's fiction but science fiction - immortality might actually become reality within our lifetimes. Fingers crossed. -

I could see that maybe a weak and emotionally undeveloped individual either a man or woman "might" be in a relationship with someone that "might" have a advantage due to age or economic success. I only have to say that it is none of our business in the first place. The ick or creepy factor comes from all these middle or older aged men who make it their job to be the "protector" of the young (usually girls) and the creep factor is VERY HIGH. These protectors are way to stalkerish to these girls and the extreme creep factor is that these are not real people either. ick. The person that started this whole thread was WAY too much concerned about imaginary situations. My favorite was when he thought a 30 year old woman would be young and vulnerable to a 80 year old man. He honestly does not know any 30 year olds other than fantasy and imagination. This guys name is FILMNOIR something which is an insult to that type of movie. I could only imagine the phony drama that he would create. Your insights are spot on mostly. I actually have a daughter of 27 years and I am a great friend and father to her. She is college educated and a GM of a restaurant. She would laugh at a older person attempting to control her or use anything as an advantage. An 80 year old would be laughed out of the room. I am trying to say that we have no right to criticize situations that are just f'n movies and are not real. If an imaginary 100 year old who looks 40 dates an imaginary actress of 25. I could honestly not give two beep Way more fun things to talk about .

There always has to be someone like you. Trying to find a creepy vibe/reason etc to complain about. Looking under rocks or placing WAY too much thought into a non existent topic. And you use Film Noir as your handle? What a disgrace. Your either obsessed with the subject (really reaching as you are) or it hits home with you. Its people like you that are the creepy ones and are in a creepfest. Are you just sitting at home and all of sudden you get offended by vampire movies, immortality and of course young and innocent girls being taken advantage of .
HMMMM. That is quite a mix. Bored much? How about finding a real subject to "analyze" with your stretches of imagination. BTW do you know many 30 year olds? I think that idea of an 80 year old supposedly taking advantage of the young and the innocent by being with a 30 yo just shows your sexist and other ridiculous/outdated ideas. Sure the 18 yo is legal by the laws definition and immortal people usually are very old indeed. BUT asshat , name one movie where an immortal of say 150 sleeps with a 30 yo (a baby and young and innocent as you say) it has NEVER been realistically portrayed as the 150 really looking 150 or 100 or 75 etc etc. Its only in your dirty pig mind that thinks this is somewhat creepy. Dude, you should get a life and change your user name.
