People of low intelligence have a hard time following the plot, it twists and turns a lot. That is understandable, but is it really necessary to rant like a mad man on the internet about it?

OP didn't say he found it confusing, just that it was awful. It was actually pretty simple to follow what was going on as it was depicted on the screen. Do you have studies to back up your statement that "people of low intelligence have a hard time following the plot"? Why do you feel differently about the movie?
I agreed with the OP, that it tried to be more clever than it actually was. It seemed like it was patting itself on the back for being so intelligent, but I just found 99% of the movie to be dull, asinine, unrealistic (the behavior/dialogue in particular; also, why was the FBI investing a crime that originally took place in France? why would Ruffalo's character do some of the things he did, given the twist at the end?), the CGI to be terrible and disappointing for a film that could have just used illusion since that is supposedly what most of the magic tricks were, and most of the actors' performances to be some of their worst. To be honest, I think most people with any ounce of intelligence would find this movie as problematic and terrible as I did. I enjoy a lot of bad movies. This was not one of the ones I enjoyed at all, and I'm surprised it has such a high rating.

Well i found it a very enjoyable film, the cgi which is your only real criticism was fine for its purpose. They had some clever aspects of the plot and some which where distractions, i expect most people who are familiar with Hollywood films would predict the kid faked his own death. But the plot actually goes one level deeper than that, heavily implying the guy who drowned was somehow behind the whole thing. No one i watched this with saw Ruffalo as being the primary protagonist. I also don't know how you can call this film dull considering the constant action.

Thanks for letting me know I have less than one ounce of intelligence (thanks for letting me know also that intelligence is measured in ounces). :-))
By the way, as soon as I completed watching it, I checked the movie details to look for plot holes. Mind adding to the list of plot holes in the goofs section? It's free.

The reason that intelligence is measured in ounces is that it takes a lot of autopsies to find an ounce of intelligence.

Excuse me, but what plot? The one where they rob a bank and no one notices the fake money lying around because money generally doesn't get used? Or perhaps where they rob some guy's bank account and broadcast it, while the bank won't simply return the money? Or maybe the constant portrayal of police incompetence? Or perhaps where they steal a safe by means of a mirror box, completely ignoring that this illusion does not work when people are INSIDE the box? Or maybe their amazing reveal at the end posing as a shoddy crapfest instead? Or do you mean to combine these all into a plot, adding protagonist arrogance, and a team of a director and storywriters laughing themselves blind about how they (not even subtly!) just called every single one of their viewers an idiot and got away with it?
This film looks like a storywriter saw an illusionist, couldn't figure out how the show was performed, and decided to one up him by writing a completely beep world where it would be strange for people NOT to rob banks. Hell, they KNOCK OUT security guards during their first bank heist, but what did they do? Go back home and call it a day? Or perhaps they are hypnotized as well. Because hey, hypnotism is the key to end all problems with security.

Yes, when there's a lot of money around, people actually don't immediately notice it's fake.
The money won't be returned as Art's account password was used to access and transmit it.
Or perhaps where they steal a safe by means of a mirror box, completely ignoring that this illusion does not work when people are INSIDE the box?
Did you watch the rabbit trick?

When the men walk into the room for the safe, they'd bump their heads on the angled mirror.

they'll see their reflection before that. Mirror to hide the safe was utterly stupid and, as has been mentioned earlier, only works when the container is viewed from a distance.

The mirror is angled, it would work until they stand next to it.

are you sure? are you sure it's not you who is of such low intelligence that even such a stupid story can appear intelligent to you?
to say suspension of disbelief is understandable. to call this pile of crap intelligent is simply an insult to human intelligence.

There's no intelligence needed to follow the plot. (And frankly, anybody with intelligence can see the yawning chasms in its logic.)
This film was absolutely dire, and the fact that it has, thus far, scored above a seven on IMDB beggars belief.

Why don't intelligent people just put on the yawning chasms into the goofs section (which other intelligent people visit) instead of ranting in out message out of hundreds (which many intelligent people are unlikely to read)?

No it doesnt swirl and move a lot the problem in the plot twist is that it could have been anything since all of those parts of it were completely left out of the plot if they were not parts of the plot at all to begin with how can you even call it a plot twist?
"oh there was a son of a great magician, who can it be?"
                                    how about whoever?

People of low intelligence also fail to read and understand properly (like confusing "absurd and idiotic" with "intelligent and (so complex that it was) hard to follow"
