Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Dual Survival

Or am I just getting used to him. Haven't seen any emotional outbursts in a couple of episodes. He's still a bit annoying, but he seems a little less crazy.

I was actually going to post something on this, but didn't want to seem premature. But in last nights episode, Bill was actually semi-normal, and seemed much less annoying than in the past to me. I sometimes wonder if the producers take the time to read through these threads, since I have noticed changes following some of the dialog that takes place at these boards throughout various shows?
To be honest, after last nights episode, and not seeing the usual activity taking place here following, I was afraid that Bill had put the final nail in the coffin of this show. If he continues in the same frame as last night though, I can hang with that.

I feel the same way. After I finished the episode I actually felt like the show might have future IF he can not only continue with this but improve.
On another note I was glad that after they finished gathering the scorpions and the snake that Grady finally mentioned that they actually had a decent meal since they had so little water. Bill just kept saying that it was more food than they had before and I kept thinking it was all the food they needed.
I know it's not a big deal but it's one of those little things that Survivorman will always mention and Dual Survival will neglect from time to time.

I don't know if this discussion board had anything to do with it. That would depend on how many episodes they had in the can before they started airing them. Personally, if I was in charge, I'd want to have the better part of a season (if not the whole season) at least shot before airing the first one; maybe not edited to the finished product, but at least shot. Keeping that in mind, I would be more inclined to believe they shot the first 2 or 3 episodes and saw a trend with Bill and had a talk with him. We've been led to believe that the first time Bill and Grady interacted was right before they got on the helicopter for the first show. That to me would be crazy. Again, if I was in charge, I'd want to see my 2 stars at least have a little interaction.

            Maybe a little of both?
I was actually a little impressed with his change in behavior in this last episode. He even tried to step up when Grady was sick.
For once he built a fire without making a big deal out of it.
I still don't like him very much but he's improved a lot in the past few episodes.
It seems strange for his behavior to change so drastically in such a short amount of time. It's almost as if the producers finished editing the earlier episodes and saw how awful he was and gave him specific instructions on how he should conduct himself.

I'm just glad he hasn't cried or talked to any more river chickens.

If it weren't for Grady I could not watch. Bill is not right.

                  Is he really that bad?
The first couple of episodes he was unbearable but he's really toned it down since then. In the past couple of episodes he's been the voice of reason.
His talking to trees is stupid but I don't think it's any worse than Cody's need to take shots at his partners or his whining anytime Dave or Joe killed something that wasn't a fish. I guess I'm in the minority but he's grown on me. Sure, I would still prefer Matt but I think Bill is more likeable than Cody plus he's willing to wear shoes in most environments.

He's grown on me too, albeit like a fungus. LOL I definitely like him better than Cody, especially Cody in the later seasons when he was close to insufferable. Going barefoot annoyed me, especially when they had to slow down for him. I get that he wants to live the primitive lifestyle, but come on, how about wearing a pair of moccasins?
I like Matt, but I'd rather see him on his own. He doesn't need a partner. It would be great to see him do a show like Les where he goes out on his own.

He's a bit "off," but if I was in a survival situation I'd be glad to have him with me.
