Love. For someone who has such a bad history of spelling, you cannot talk to someone about using their brain. Saying something is overrated is a matter of opinion, just as you thinking it's great. There is no such thing as something being good or bad, only what the individual makes of it. The other poster (I personally agree with him) thinks it's overrated. This is a personal opinion, it in no way takes away from your own individual taste. Some people like marmite, some don't. he isn't saying it's total crap, and anyone who watches it is also crap, he is saying in his opinion it is overrated, overrated (you really should look up the word) just means it's not as wonderful as others have said (not crap, just not as good as the praise deems it to be.) Plus last time I checked it was a discussion board, not everyone will agree on the same things.
                  overrate (vr-rt)
                  tr.v. overrated, overrating, overrates
To overestimate the merits of; rate too highly.

I am really not sure why people must like one or the other. I love many of the US comediesdating back to the 70's up till today. Mash, Cheers, Seinfeld. Curb, Always Sunny, Modern Family and many many more. Are they any better than Faulty Towers, Peep show or The Inbetweeners hell no. I just wish there were more than 6 episodes per season. I have no idea why they make so few.
On a side note one thing UK tv does do better than the US is Reality shows. The UK Apprentice is outstanding compared to the crap Trump does.

Do they really have to remake EVERYTHING..?! It's bad enough that they won't watch foreign-language films. But, when they won't watch non-American English-language films either, you really do have to wonder about how scarily insular that country is!

                              america can't laugh at themselves?
ladies + gentlemen, i give you the simpsons.
besides, i'm sure a similarly close-minded american would think brits are all stuffy ponces w/no sense of humour.

The Family Guy and South Park are the only american comedies that come to mind as remotly funny. Americans should stick to dramas that is what they do well not try to reproduce foreign shows.

Family Guy and South Park as the only funny American comedies? You don't watch much, do you?
Curb Your Enthusiasm, Arrested Development etc are all hilarious, the latter being one which Copeland wrote on.
Saying Americans don't 'get' British humour is beyond outdated. They get it perfectly well, and I imagine their Inbetweeners series will have a lot of awkward humour similar to these shows and films like Superbad etc.
I think it'll turn out fine, and if not, who cares.

Oh dear god I hope it fails so hard!
It pisses me off beyond reason that beep MTV is remaking it. The only thing worthwhile on that network is the recently revived Beavis & Butt-head.
What I just don't get is why does the U.K. get the original versions of all the American shows, while America has to remake all of the British shows before they can air here?
I guess most people in Hollywood are too lazy to come up with an original idea.
