Just happened to check out Netflix and happened to see this movie. Never seen the tv show before so I don't really know these characters all that well. One guy keeps talking about his ex, one is just too stupid, the other keeps talking nonstop about nothing in particular and the last guy is just really horny and makes horrible decisions. I tried to like these guys but just found them really unlikable and very annoying. The movie itself was funny but just talking about the characters.

Yeah, it probably helps if you're a fan of the Tv show. Some of the plot points, such as his obsession with his ex etc are pay offs from stuff from the series.
After 3 series you can't help but like them and then the movie feels like a natural extension. Go check out the tv series

No, you're supposed to be laughing at them. They are an exaggerated collection of stereotypical teenage anxieties about sex and growing up synthesised into a motley crew of adolescents. They're not real and you're not being asked to sympathise with them. Occasionally you might identify with how they behave or think, but generally it's a picaresque comment on modern youth.

Part of the point of them is that though you can agree that they are pretty much all twats, you can probably identify with them. As a teenager, you were probably at school with people like this. You're supposed to laugh at them, but also remember what it was like to be that age.
