For starters I wouldn't have been wearing football club trunks, I did when I was the kids age but not Jay's!
Maybe asking him who his favourite player was would have got him on side. You can't punch a kid even if he is trying to push you in a pool. Getting him on side would have made him less likely to want to humiliate you in the first place.
