This is a love letter to the franchise and still leaves things open.

I have and you should too Spike
It's not perfect but it's certainly a great cinema experience and one you'll remember enjoying
It took forever, but we finally got a proper Alien movie again in all the right places and angles.
There are flaws, but overall you'll overlook them as you don't get time to focus on them.
A top movie and one that deserves a young couple who get old together calling it their first date

I liked the first 1.5 hours very much, the last half hour not so much…it went to far into Prometheus territory and the "monster baby", while indeed disgusting, was just too ridiculous for me. So all-in-all, while I still liked it that last segment dropped it from a solid 8 - 8.5 down to a 7.5
I've been searching for the daughter of the Devil himself, I've been searching for an angel in white. -

It did go on just a little too much Spike and I think the Prometheus/Resurrection hybrid storytelling was a nice nod to the overall ridiculousness of it all but it was already a slog to get through (In a good way) and so it went out with a whimper more than a bang.
Still a great Alien movie and it took the mickey in all the right ways (If sometimes a little too much).
A 7.5 is still a big win at the cinema these days - particularly for an Alien movie and so I'm glad that you liked it

I'm not faulting Ridley Scott here Anthony, just his fans
Love letter is just code for nerds making an inferior rehash with membah berries
This is true and still holds to be the case with this movie
All this thread was about is how Ridley Scott's return to the franchise with Prometheus and Covenant was films which tried to deliver in two very different ways and forgot about what had come after Alien and those who liked them as Alien films had lost the plot with why Alien was such a great movie in the first place.
Brandywine (One of Ridley's production companies) owns the rights to the entire intellectual property of the franchise and so Sir Ridder has always had control in the official outputs related to it
When people said there was depth and nuance to Prometheus I challenged them on it and they said something along the lines of me 'Not getting it'. I told them Covenant would course correct just as poorly as Prometheus had tried to be original and I was right.
This movie is much more in line with an Alien movie while being original enough to hold its own and still manage to celebrate Prometheus and Covenant without detracting from the overall story is was showing.
So so, in short; Ridley Scott fans can lick my nuts

iBrandywine is owned by Walter Hill who produced every alien movie in the series and owns the IP rights, Scottfree production is Ridley Scott’s production company which only got involved with Prometheus onwards, so Romulus is in the same vein with Ridley’s stamp of approval minus any pretentiousness.
Other than that, yes Prometheus and covenant were indeed steaming piles of excrement that should’ve been ejected out the proverbial airlock.

Meh. I like Covenant a lot more than this movie. I like Alien 3 a lot more than this movie. This movie looks great. It really matches the aesthetics of the first 3. It doesn't look too advanced like Prometheus or Covenant. But it's meh.
Rook looked distractingly stupid.
The final villain even worse. Took me right out of the movie. Especially when the camera panned out and showed it's whole body. Goofy ass Slender Man looking ****. Ditching a classic movie monster for the sake of your own newer, bigger and badder one, is such a classic sequel mistake. -
