Nah. We've had a two party system for pretty much the entire history of this country. Even in countries with many parties they still function like a two party system. You have those in power and those who side with them, and you have opposition. A system where we choose the lesser of two evils is always how it's going to work. If you don't like the group in power, then you pick the group most likely to beat them, even if they don't fit all of your beliefs. There is no alternative. Introducing new parties that you may prefer would effectively split up the vote on the side you most align with and make it easier for the party you don't align with to win. It's just not wise and it would never work.

Naturally of course the answer is Other. Naturally this is so because it is not on the list. It is not on the list because you dont understand reality. If you understood reality you wouldnt be a democrat.
What it is, is this: There are basically two types of people. Those who self-rule and those who wish to be ruled. Those who self rule [true Americans] prefer a system with the minimum necessary regulation. The others, magical thinkers, believe in building a utopia. Utopia's are an impossibility due the the vagaries of human nature. The utopian selectively ignores the aspects of human nature that make their dream an impossibility. It is the conflict between the realists and the utopians which lies at the root of the divide.

I think it's a variety of reasons. The media and all this woke bullshit isn't doing anything to bring people together. Instead they pit people against each other by constantly reminding everyone of their differences instead of pointing out what we have in common. Trump did a lot to compound the severity of this by antagonizing those opposed to him and Biden has done zero to fix this with both his administration's woke agenda and the way he keeps demonizing Trump supporters as MAGA terrorists. The two party system isn't helping at all because they can't seem to find some comfortable middle ground that they can see eye to eye on. In other words, things are seriously ****ed up at this point in time.

We've a different voting system.
But since the two bourgeois parties have lost strength and voters in recent years, we've become entangled in endless discussions… almost to the point of being unable to govern.
The so-called 5% clause does little to change this.
(only parties with at least 5% of the voters get into parliament).
