Yeah. An Oxy might kill the pain but there's not a chance in hell she could really beat someone to death with her shoulder split like that.

I needed an Oxy just to watch this show tonight. It's ridiculous, and I love ridiculous but horror makes me anxious as beep these days and I constantly feel Tachycardic and out of breath.

I'm with you, except I'm leaning more towards it being a pretty poorly written episode. When Shelby was just chilling out on the bed after having been slashed with a cleaver I was a little put off, but willing to overlook it. When all of the characters still in the house were napping while there was a serial killer on the loose, I was a bit more peeved. When Shelby smashed in Matt's head and then we got that terribly written scene where Dominic explained to Shelby that she'd murdered Matt and would be goin to prison I was just done.
Bonus points to you for your use of Anya Jenkins as a verb. 🙂

Ditto on all fronts but WHAT THE beep ABOUT WHEN LILY HAD JUST HAD HER beep UPPER-BODY CUT IN HALF AND IS SITTING THERE SEMI-CAVALIERLY USING HER CELLPHONE WITH HER 'GOOD ARM' AND
                    MATTER-UH-FACTLY

                    Scream Queens
when Ariana Grande 'live-tweets' her demise.

Hahahaha I absolutely love this and the reminder of the Ariana Grande death scene from Scream Queens.
I completely agree though. You're spot on about how Shelby makes absolutely zero effort to save herself. I also found it kind of annoying that she was leaning against a door to get out of the room, and Dominick came in and bum rushed Agnes from some other I guess totally random entrance to the room? Pretty lame all around.
I still think that the worst scene was when Dominic was just calmly and patronizingly explaining to Shelby: "You murdered Matt. Now you're going to have to turn yourself in and go to prison." It's like: bitch, how you gonna get her to prison when everyone is DEAD??? Did he forget where he was and what was going on?

                        There were SO many instances where the dialogue was comically-stilted and robotically-expository last night;
"I know I'm going to die, now, Agnes, but I am recording you, and your true nature will be unveiled."
"I came back for her, Shelby. For this woman. Whom I feel a strong attraction to. I love her. I choose to be with her. I enjoy beep her immensely. She's a wonderful woman. I look forward to my future with this woman."
"Under no condition can I leave Rory here, girls. He's up in this tree. I'm very disheartened by this state of affairs. I understand the perps are nigh, but I must remain here. Under this tree. Beneath my beloved Rory. It simply can be no other way."
"I've murdered Matt. Oh no, I've murdered Matt. What ever have I done? Prison, now, you say? Oh, no, I can't go there. I simply cannot comply with this notion. What ever was I thinking when I repeatedly assaulted his cranium with a crowbar until there was nothing left of his face? Prison simply will not do."
"But you must go, Shelby. It's just the way the cookie crumbles, sweetheart. I'm a very rational man, and I see this matter for what it is. No more and no less. Please be comforted by my rationality, dear Shelby. Matt is indeed no more, and prison beckons you. It'll all be okay."
"I believe Agnes may have wounded me. Would you perchance bestow an Aspirin upon a lady in distress?"

This was spot on! The dialogue and character choices were so cringy last night. It amazes me when I see people talk about how terrifying the episode was, because I was too busy laughing at the terrible character interactions to really feel the scares. I'm pretty positive it's just part of the 'show within a show' thing they've got going on, but the way that people laud this sort of material as brilliant when it's meant to sound slanted and off is just laughable for me.

You ever hear the phrase, "So bad, it's good."
That applies here. I know it's over the top and insane, but I'm still enjoying it. Hence the thread title.

I suppose you're right. I guess my problem is that I need to lower my expectations tremendously going in and just enjoy it for how bad it is instead of being flabbergasted that it's as terrible as it is. Maybe that's the point. I'll work on changing my attitude about it and try seeing it from your perspective instead.

I do have to say I had FUN last night, even though I was as appalled in many cases as you were. I had FUN, my heart rate was up, my respiration was all over the place. The show did that, if nothing else, so kudos. My Mother hates violence/"gore" and even she thought it was a hoot. I did NOT have fun with what I saw of 'TWD' premiere, hah. And that actually possesses a degree of 'creative integrity' and yet I was like "beep this beep right off the bat (no pun intended).
mind you, I haven't actively watched 'TWD' since S2 (which I actually loved, contrary to popular reception). But I digress.
I will say in Roanoke's favor that I fully-intend to watch the entire season, I DO suspect on some level that it will 'dramatically redeem' itself in episode 10 (which could, best case scenario, end up being a rather 'poetic indictment' of Hollywood Reality Stars) and I did NOT watch the entire season of
                                      Hotel
. I just couldn't. First time that's ever happened with a show I was 'in for the long haul' since
                                      Desperate Housewives
after S4 (again, I loved S2 which everyone generally loathed, hah).
I strongly feel that E5 & E6 of Roanoke ECLIPSE every single episode of Hotel with the possible exception of
                                      Room 33
                                      .

I feel you on TWD. I've stuck with it from day one - don't ask me how! - but I was pretty appalled by the season premiere as well. It was gratuitous in the worst way, and it lacked respect for the audience in my opinion. I think perhaps my feelings about that episode sort of extended here, because I had hoped for more from this season of AHS. Seriously, I enjoyed the first half of the season so much, that the change in quality from episode 6 onwards has been startling. I think maybe I just haven't adjusted to it yet and I need to see it for a campy gorefest and stop expecting it to be a dark and compelling/disturbing horror driven by the characters.
Geez, and a Desperate Housewives reference too. I feel like you and I are meant to be friends!
I definitely agree with you that this is miles above anything Hotel had to offer. At least it has that going for it.

I've completely let go of the hope that this show will ever be what it once was. Once I dropped those expectations and just let myself enjoy the ride, I found myself having a lot more fun. This show is no longer complex, thought provoking television. It's just batsht crazy.
I'm glad the show has stopped trying to recapture its glory days. As I said once before, if the show can't be Rosemary's Baby, I'll happily settle for Evil Dead. (Actually, at the time, I compared it to Insidious But that no longer feels accurate.)
