This season is all about truth vs. fiction and fantasy vs. reality. It's dealing with the question of what is real, and how do we know? and how do we process reality? It's about "reality" shows, and their manipulation of truth. So what's the ultimate message here?
I think this season could go several ways:- MRN and RTR are both fake. Then we see reality in episode 10. The message here would probably be reality biting "reality" in the butt; ie, all the fakers from MRN and RTR end up dying anyways from real ghosts.
- MRN is fake but RTR isn't. Then we see the aftereffects of RTR in Episode 10. The message here would probably be how "reality" shapes/shaped reality; ie, Lee survives, and is believed to be the actual killer of all the RTR folks and/or Mason because MRN poisoned the real public and law against her.
- MRN is fake but RTR isn't totally fake, only partially. Episode 10 ex; ie, we find out that even thought the RTR is legit, it's been stage managed and arranged, like Lee masterminded the whole thing to clear herself.
- Everything is fake they just better not go this route.
Right now, I'm leaning towards 1 or 3 being what we get.
Thoughts?

I don't think any of it is fake. I think that the real Matt, Shelby, and Lee really did experience something horrific in that house, and that Mason, Cricket, and Elias really died there. I'm not sure if everything they said in their interviews on MRN was completely true, though. At first I thought maybe they had exaggerated and embellished the truth, possibly using a mashup of real facts they had learned about the history of the house, along with some local folk stories and legends they'd heard during their time there. But in the end, they really had experiences something paranormal there.
Sidney never believed their story, but it made for good TV and big ratings, so he went with it. The actors who played the parts of the real Shelby, Matt, Lee, and ghosts apparently filmed at the location and experienced no strange happenings or paranormal activity while they were filming on location, so they didn't believe the ghost stories, either. That's why they were all willing to go back to the house for the filming of RTR. But they weren't there during the Blood Moon. He also agitated Agnes, knowing she was unstable, and made a deal with Dominic to stir the pot, hoping to cause some additional drama.
Sidney apparently thinks Lee really did murder Mason, and is hoping that by filming a sequel on location with the actual people and the actors that portrayed them, along with the help of some special effects he planted in the house and all of those hidden cameras, he will create another successful program, and maybe expose Lee as the murderer as an added bonus. I believe the motivations of the real Miller family for going back to the house are exactly what they have claimedShelby went back hoping to reunite with Matt, Lee went back hoping to prove they weren't lying and clear her name, and Matt went back because he was draws to the witch.
What Sidney and his crew didn't count on was that the Millers were in fact NOT lying about the place being haunted. I think that is where the lines between truth and fiction are going to cross. Sidney and the actors went in there thinking they were going to be making another "fake" reality show, only with a different format. More like a Big Brother in Hell type of thing. Instead, their reality is turned upside down when the "characters" they thought they were portraying in MRN turn out to be realand maybe even more dangerous than Matt, Shelby, and Lee even let on!
I'm still not sure yet if the Polks we are seeing in RTR are the real deal or if they are nothing but more actors hired by Sidney to scare the people staying at the house to cause more drama. I hope we find out next week. They are creepy, whoever they are! -

I think this suggestion fits my #2, and I'm not yet sure if that's going to happen.
When I say MRN was faked, btw, I don't mean that the events weren't real (I suspect they were at least partially truthful) I meant that it's fake as in reenactments. So not actual reality.
