Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Sand Sharks

    dayvit78 — 14 years ago(January 31, 2012 09:20 PM)

I know it's a little pointless to be asking a question about a movie as ridiculous as this, but still
At the beginning, they were looking for Dr. Powers who was a man, but instead they got his daughter who is also a scientist. So what happened to the old Dr. Powers who visited earlier to help with the previous shark attacks? Did he get eaten?
It was hinted (or explicitly stated, I don't care), that Jimmy's previous party resulted in the deaths of alot of people - but it couldn't have been due to Sand Sharks otherwise they wouldn't have been so surprised this time. Did they ever say what exactly happened?
Lastly, um. The scientist bimbo - the script writing was a complete joke. "Yeah, I have to like do some more tests, you know like DNA and carbon dating stuff, the usual like science stuff! Tee hee. I'm so smart see how this tooth is a baby because of it's gum line and the color." I guess my question here is, did they hire an actual technical specialist like most movies? I assume they didn't have a budget so just pulled some science words out of their

Actually, it was said that Sandy's father retired ("he'd rather swim with the sharks than study them").
As for Jimmy's first party, it was also explained that sharks (just regular old sharks) attacked and IIRC fifteen people were killed. Sandy's father helped them out somehow and that was the end of that.
I understand this was a pretty terrible movie, but you guys aren't doing yourselves any favors by complaining about this stuff when it's explained in the movie.

I just watched this movie and it was the deputy that suggested Sandy's father retired when she asked what happened to him. (Although swimming with the sharks sounds more like a desire to die than retirement) His daughter avoided the question, instead, asking what the deputy wanted. It made me think at the time that perhaps he had been killed by the sand sharks somehow but nothing really came of it.

DNA is fine, but carbon dating a fresh tooth
I thought that was beyond lame. You don't carbon date things unless they're ancient. She made up for it with her other assets.
