Why not stay in the apartment?

OP and the people who say they should have stayed in the apartment know what they're talking about. I've been in the army, what they did was pretty stupid if you ask me. There was going to be backup coming sooner or later, if they had just watch the doors and blasted anyone who tried to make their way in they would have survived.

I think that if they stayed in the apartment the gang would eventually ry to shoot through the walls and they didnt want to risk the killing the the woman and her baby. In addition they thought it was only Big Evil crew, which was only 4 people. They didnt realize they had gang members everywhere and that running wasnt as easy.

Late to the party, but better late than never.
- They didn't get in the vehicle and try to run away, because they had no means of communication to advise their incoming backup that they had moved.
When you have backup on the way, who knows your approximate location, but you can't communicate to them that you're moving, you stay in your general location. - A typical AK-47 round has an effective range of 350m, and can still be lethal at 1500m. (Typical being 7.62x39 255gr, steel core)
Considering standard AK rounds can penetrate 3/8 steel within at least that range, if we use the approximate 50m distance that someone else suggested, that's more than enough to penetrate through the plaster walls of that apartment.
Oh, and an AK at 100 yards (91.44m) can be accurate within 6 inches. There's a lot more inches than that for a human body. - The angle of firing into the apartment was horrible for the shooters. It looked like they'd maybe be hitting 5-6 feet into the apartment, though if they crouched or went prone they could have fired further in.
- I doubt they had any form of explosive. If they did, we almost certainly would have seen it during the final shoot out.
- In the end, they did what they did because IT'S IN THE SCRIPT!

- They didn't get in the vehicle and try to run away, because they had no means of communication to advise their incoming backup that they had moved.

This thread is hilarious.
What if attackers have a grenade?
Fortify how? With Swedish furniture?
What if all of them will barge into the apartment with machine guns?
When outnumbered the best defense is to move, if there is a chance of course.
Sure, they were up against machine guns.
About AK47, you do not give your life into the hands of a weapon that might fail on you, it's not a game. A machine gun has advantages over a handgun same as it has disadvantages over it, like long range accuracy and weight. -

Unlike others on this thread, I have not been trained in urban warefare.
If I was in their situation, I would be looking for exits too. They're trained best with their sidearm not with an AK47, they would be doing what they have been trained to do in that situation and I doubt they are trained to switch weapons.
The only thing I would have done differently is take the first vehicle I could. At the very least if you're driving and you get in the beep again you can use it as cover. -

staying there wasn't an issue for me, it didn't really matter much
if they stayed then their hiding place was known, that is the only point
the AK was a real issue, whether u gonna use it or not u just have to pick it up coz u dunno what happens next
even while u r playing games like MOH u pick up any weapon u find
at least when u take it then u r taking it from them, every opportunity to decrease ur opponent's weapons is a chance of survival
if they wanted to enter that hiding place and found a dead man without a weapon they would know u picked it and would hesitate a lil
also the car, it was totally stupid not to jump in it -

Well Brian said that he fked up, when he was lying on that street bleeding dying. I don't know what precisely he meant to have fked up (getting hit?) but something on the run.
I wouldn't consider the run itself a fk-up.
There were at least two entries to cover, straight in line of the two cops but opposite of each other and there was an innocent person +her baby in great danger too, and it was unknown how many attackers more may arrive and what else they'd bring with them.
The weapons were chosen to go through their bulletproof vests. They surely noticed the firepower.
Staying in the apartment is being on the silver platter.
Escape and forcing the attackers to search after them was a good choice.
Maybe they should have hidden elsewhere instead. Out of sight until reinforcement comes. But that may be risky too. Somebody fishy may see that.
I'm sure in such a situation you just do as you've learnt while training. You act or you piss your pants.

I believe when he said he beep up, he meant putting Z and himself in that situation, going back to checking out that house and more or less forcing Z to come along.

Look. You get in the apartment, you shut up the woman in it, you put the couch in front of the door and then crouch at the other end of the room while pointing your gun at the door until backup arrives in like 10 min.
Congratulations! You survived the ordeal.
