How could he survive after being shot in the chest, and also bullets from AK47 can pierce through Michael Pea and hit him again multiple times, but he still survived??? Unrealistic as hell

Yeah I had the same problem. It would have been so brave to go with the alternate ending when they both died. But the director changed it believing it would be to much for the audience. Pretty realistic movie up to that point.

I could see both endings working.

Shooting survivability aside, what was more unrealistic was that they would run about or through the alley shining a light around and yelling to draw attention to themselves. The first thing you'd do is kill your light and shut the #%^* up, not tell everyone in the 'hood where you're at.
There's a reason cops rely heavily on K-9 units to locate suspects in that sort of environment. It's not easy to find people in the dark, even if they're right nearby
They would have some training around the use of cover and concealment and if they work that area, they'd likely know their way around the neighbourhood a little too, yet the best thing he could do for his shot partner was to crouch over him with his back turned to danger, oblivious to anyone approaching and wait to get executed.
That said, if anyone really wanted to off them, they could have just walked up to them sometime while they're parked in their car drinking coffee. The more routine something is the less heightened awareness is present and the more vulnerable someone is.
