I read the book first without even knowing there was going to be a series, and I was so surprised at how close they really stuck to the book. It's also so real, if you think about it.

Exactly, and they make that perfectly clear. It's so "real" that there will always be a "religion" or a "god" of sorts, but that definition will change over time, and currently, it's various forms of technology. We've lost touch with our human side and our connection to Nature.

Just finished it, and was kind of surprised that was a season finale. It didn't feel like one.
All in all, enjoyed the ride. The visual aspect was pretty cool.

I'm not sure how I felt about that. I suspected as much. It better not get cancelled as it's only gearing up.
It was a good series to watch after
Doom Patrol
. Often it's hard to follow something up with another when you're in the mood for more of what you just saw.

I liked it all up until the last episode which I thought was a bit of a weak cliffhanger.
Still, overall a corker and slightly better than season 1.

I agree it's a weak cliffhanger. I do enjoy the series as a whole, though.
