Because the visual medium and the textual medium are two very different ways of getting information across. You can express things in text (such as interior thoughts) that are not really possible in a movie or TV show too much narration quickly bores and/or annoys viewers. Also, the amount of activity in a single book, if everything were included, would often take several seasons to fully cover.

Leave it alone. I think it's a troll.

I disagree, I think you can make anything exactly like it's written in the books to tv/film.

No, you can't really, as footnotegirl eloquently explained. And the bigger question is why anyone would want to see an "exact" adaptation of anything - where's the fun in that?

              Its not impossible.
It's not about being fun, it's about staying true to the material.

Logically it is impossible because the moment someone decides to render the written word visually s/he imposes their own subjective vision on the viewers. What will seem exactly true to some viewers will not be accepted as such by others.

Couldn't that be applied to any tv show?

First, read the book, it's great.
Second, from the little footage we have and from other news sources, it looks like it's going to be pretty darn close. There are a few changes to reflect the time(a certain character is portrayed much different in the show than in the book to reflect how times have changed since the book was written in 2001), but other than that it should be very close to the book.
And there's onecertain scene that the showrunners have promised will appear. Those who have read the book will know which scene I mean.

Which scene, Ranguvar? I've read the book, so a vague hint will suffice. Thanks in advance.

I certainly hope not. I mean each to their own and all but I couldn't even finish the book. It was like it was written by a 12 year old who based his ideas on adult behavior on the worst soap operas he could find. Predictable at every turn and utterly puerile. Of course that's only my opinion other people appear to love the book. I'll give the show a shot because I think the concept has potential and hopefully the execution of the concept will be done better on the screen.

And some movies benefit from diverting from the source material.
