Can't say I disagree. That's exactly what I thought after watching it: "That was basically a video game moviebut an awesome video game movie."
Yeah, the plot and characters were thin. I didn't really care to see what happened next or if the characters lived or died, but it was just so much fun and so exciting. At least they knew what they wanted to make and didn't try to force emotion or poignancy like some of these movies try to do. It was a nice little trim action flick that flew by and was entertaining throughout.

How can you lose faith in something that has remained unchanged? Maybe you're just a disillusioned hipster?
IMDb ratings have always and will always be user driven, it's nothing more than an average of how most people feel. Just because the majority of the opinions don't coincide with your idiotic generalizations doesn't mean the system is broken. -

This movie is supposed to be an martial arts movie. So treat it like one. Yet you guys are whining like theres no proper plot, no good dialogs, blah blah blah.. These types of movies are pure action movies, and i dont think that less dialogs and more action makes this movie bad.
You know theres a saying, "Action speaks louder than words" LOL. -

This movie is considerably better than The Dark Knight or Dark Knight Rises, both of which have inexplicably high ratings on imdb despite being screenplay-writer masturbation.
A better action movie than anything produced in Hollywood in the last decade perhaps. -

Couldn't agree more, the movie was bad from start to ending. Terrible actors, boring "story" and ridiculously predictable.
I love how most scenes the "bad guys" adapted to what weapon the protagonist had except for 1 scene where they had machetes and even then they did the classic "let's attack him one by one" and the fact that none of the later characters didn't even own a gun just baffles me.
One can argue that the scenes were not green-screened, but it didn't help with the fights being too long, predictable and completely and utterly boring. There was nothing in this movie worth seeing, at all.
This movie got a solid 1/10 and deserves a place in IMDb's worst movies ever made.

I find the movie pretty enjoyable. Not a movie to think much, but a good fast action flick.

I don't see how anyone could rate this much higher than a 6. It doesn't really have a plot and the some of the fight scenes aren't realistic.
IMDB Ratings - Yeah, can't go by those Too many people who like the movie giving it a 9/10 or 10/10 rating, which is COMPLETELY ridiculous. -

LOL This is, like, better than any american action/fighting movies made in last 10 years. For what it's worth, considering the budget and the land that made it.
And what i like about it is, no superstars in the movie, no dumb plastic blondes, no pumped up heavyweights, no special effects, no atomic explosions, simple story and awesome fighting scenes and everything makes sense in the context of the movie.
It's brilliant! -

I enjoyed the film thoroughly. The acting is okay. Not terrible. The plot is there.
What makes this movie shine is that with its budget, we get a well paced, and an insane trill ride.
The fight scenes have by far the best choreography in cinema history. There is no doubt about it.
It excels at it.
And if you haven't seen the second one, well then your missing out.
That one is better than this one in everyway. That has a full blown plot with okay to great acting. And once again it doesn't fail to deliver a full package.
I give both movies a 10.
