So I posted this and then watched the movie both ways. This is an ACTION movie ain't nobody got time for "Man: Grunting" in MS-Dos font on the screen when you could be watching a sick fight scene.

I always prefer subtitles over dubs. Dubbed movies are often done really poorly and take away from what's on screen. Subtitles require you to stay focused and it allows me to enjoy the movie more.
However, with The Raid: Redemption, it really doesn't matter as the dialogue is of minimal importance. -

I usually prefer subtitles but in this case I'd recommend the dubbed version. I agree with the previous poster that this movie is better without any clutter on the screen. This is one of the best action movies I've ever scene. It's better to go with the dubbed version for the little bit of dialog that is necessary for the fantastic action.

Perfect assessment iHulk7. This release is an exception when choosing just because you get two music soundtrack versions. The original Indonesian music track does the horror violent angle so well. Just compare the Hallway fight and Machete gang scores. Two different films!

As a fluent-but-not-native speaker of Indonesian, I couldn't help but noticing that while all the characters spoke in Jakartan/"Betawi" dialect, it didn't appear very natural in all instances. The main cop had the best delivery, his brother as well. I watched it with subtitles and the subs were all sorts of off.

Very interesting to hear. Whether dialect or simply the actors delivery, it's interesting to hear about the non-athletic part of their performance. Not all amazing stunt guys are charismatic like Jackie Chan (GOAT).

That's the way I decided because this movie is about the action. The story is just there to set up the action, something like Crouching Tiger or Hero you want the subs even tho it also has gorgeous movement.
