The acting is questionable in parts, but I grew up on 80's horror, so for me, it's part of the charm. Some of the IT sequences are so creative. If they ever remake A Nightmare on Elm Street again, it should be who worked on this.
The writing is also good. The look of the series is appealing. -

I've noticed that the acting in
many
movies based on his books are…. kinda bad. The characters are often extremely melodramatic and exaggerated. They are like parodies of real people.
Yeah, the kids are a little hit or miss at times. I like Lily a lot. Will is pretty good too. The Hispanic kid and black girl are passable, but a little hammy and try to hard at times. The first group of kids with Lily were brutal imo.
The Halloran stuff is great. Love him and the Hanlons. Pennywise's origins is awesome. Love seeing more of it and connecting it to The Shining and Dr. Sleep.
Some of the CGI is brutal though.
I will say, the Matty-to-Pennywise transformation loked GREAT.
Skarsgaard has been spectacular. He's getting a little more to do than to just scare kids.
