So I know I sound ridiculous or think I do by saying this but the ending of this film shocked me to the point where it's all I've been able to think about for like 2 weeks now and it is kinda becoming somewhat of an obsession to me.
The film was a masterpiece in my opinion and did exactly what it was intended to do, shock the audience, Just a little too much to me.
Did this happen to anyone else or am I just weird?

i have thought of the movie a lot lately. Annalynne McCord and Traci Lords did a great job. Malcolm Mcdowell was decent in the small amount of screen time he had
Rob Zombie is one of the greatest directors today

I couldn't agree more with you and am glad someone has somewhat of the same problem with thinking about the film a lot.
I also think that Ariel Winters was a perfect choice for the innocent little sister as she does seem like such an innocent person when she talks which makes the ending just that much more shocking.
Anyway, I appreciate your input on my post. 🙂

I agree in that my first viewership of this film completely shocked me. However, I watched it again and if you really pay attention to exactly what is happening - Pauline is headed in the direction of doing something insane with her sister the whole time. Pauline really thinks a lot of her so called surgical abilities. SHe sincerely believes she is the only one that can fix her sisters problems.

I know what you mean. I really think this was a very decent, well told story and all of the actors were superb. I've never really given much thought to Traci Lords but I think she was outstanding in thisdefinitely to be taken more sreiously as an actress imo. In the scene when she (Phyllis) was trying to reach out to Pauline by relating her own painful relationship with her mother, the look of defeat and despair on her face when Pauline dismissively interrupted and walked away was profound.
I've never even heard of Annalynne McCord before this but I'm honestly surprised she didn't recieve recognition as the likes of Charlize Theron when she did Monster. Seriously, I think this actress, McCord, should be right up there with the other Oscar winners.
Pair the great acting with the disturbing but beautifully executed scenes of the insane visions inside Paulines head, and I say this movie was pretty powerful. Not in the sense that it was a "cool, gorey, horror flick" or anything rediculous like that but in the sense that society needs to examine several things - bullying, parents (and teachers)being aware of children's emotional well being, the status of mental health care, etc. I think that's why this movie has people like us still thinking about it long after having watched it. The writers and director definitely did their jobs.

I couldnt agree with you anymore, I most definitely will need to give it a re watch and I too have never see Annalynn Mccord in anything either (Hoping I got her name spelling correct).
But I most certainly agree that this film was executed to almost perfection.

Disturbing? Shocking? I would say just a good movie. If you want to be disturbed see Centipede. I didn't even see I just read the storyline and it has disturbed me for years. I actually feel bad for even telling you this. I wish I would have never heard of it.

Disturbing and gross are not necessarily the same thing.

It was truly horrifying on the deepest levels. The whole film, she's moving inexorably toward this (and the title's a pretty big give-away), but I kept hoping that somehow it wouldn't happen, that something would stop her.
The worst part is that she loved her sister so much, and really believed this was saving her, not killing her.
Yeah. This ending will be on my mind for a while. I just saw it as I'm posting this. I'm still a little shaky from the emotional impact.
Beautifully acted by Lords and McCord.
I love you, John. But you're a pussy.

It's not just you. I was stunned and actually sickened. Not many movies get to me like this one did. The reality of it was scary.
