It would have been interesting if he'ss killed off the Aaron Paul character and tried to play both roles - creepy as heck even [bigeeek]
But I think the idea that the space vessel needed a crew of at least two was the fixed point in the story structure which prevented further corruption.
In theory there could be a sequel where the avatar is taken into custody and Josh's character serves time in jail and Aaron's gets to go for walks in the park and have an air of freedom which then gets the ol' switcheroo!*
*Being Black Mirror they would have to have a take on sci-fi/horror sequels not living up to their originators very often

The ending kind of made it seem like he wanted his friend to suffer the same fate as him.
The lynchpin being that for the mission to succeed the vessel needs a crew of two
I wonder what will happen when/if they get back to Earth

Depends on whether the mission is completed or not I guess Panther.
Completed mission = exoneration, uncompleted mission = his blasΓ© attitude about his fame got his family targetted and thusly he is complicit in their murders.
Sets a precedent for all future entries into the program of space exploration.

Enjoyed them all, but for me, Beyond the Sea was most Black Mirror feeling in theme. I liked the ****ed up ending. Joan is Awful was I suppose, too, but it was a little too meta.
The rest were all cool short stories but they didn't have that tech edge that's present in all other Black Mirror episodes. It's not enough for a video camera to be involved and call that tech in a Black Mirror way. -

I think the Loch Henry one with the video camera was more about the fame surrounding true crime/snuff and how technology makes it more accessible and thereby sanitises the horriic reality of it all while turning a profit for those seeking to exploit it.
I too missed the "What if" tech kick normally associated with Black Mirror Loki but I don't mind a little bit of retrospection when taking the potential darkness of humanity of how it uses whatever technology is available to them at any given moment as a means to look to today also.
I'd say the weakest use of technology this season is probably the Mazey Day episode as I think it needs a proper deep dive into its lore to see if something more can be salvaged from it more suited to a Black Mirror concept.
I still enjoyed it though

How would you rank the episodes Juan?
For me demon stood out from the restβ¦but I find it difficult to fill out the other three. Enjoyed them allβ¦but don't know that i loved any of the rest.
I'm thinking
Demon
Joan
Beyond
Loch
Mazey -

Were I to place them in order of how much I enjoyed them I'd say it would go something like:
Joan Is Awful
Loch Henry
Demon 79
Beyond the Sea
Mazey Day
I liked them all though, just in very different ways. But this would be my order of preference right now

I like your take above in regards to the show implementing the tech available at he time of the more retro episodes.
Of the entire catalog of seasonsβ¦how far into the future and how far back in the past do you reckon the show has gone? I assume 1979 is the furthest back. -

Putting together a timeline is a pretty good idea Dear friend
Perhaps if we can get people to agree upon it we could give it its own thread and bring other Black Mirror enthusiasts here
So far, according to my thinking at least, the list of chronological order of episodes is:
1969: Beyond the Sea (S6S03)
1979: Demon 79 (S6E05)
1984: Bandersnatch (2018 Interactive Film)
2006: Mazey Day (S6E04)
2015: The National Anthem (S1E01)
2016: Shut Up and Dance (S3E03)
2016: The Waldo Moment (S2E03)
2019: Smithereens (S5E02)
2021: Fifteen Million Merits (S1E02)
2013: Loch Henry (S6E02)
2029: Nosedive (S3E01)
2035: White Bear (S2E02)
2038: Be Right Back (S2E01)
2039: Playtest (S3E02)
2040: Arkangel (S4E02)
2041: Crocodile (S4E03)
2042: Joan is Awful (S6E01)
2043: Hated in the Nation (S3E06)
2044: Striking Vipers (S5E01)
2044: Men Against Fire (S3E05)
2045: The Entire History of You (S1E03)
2046: Rachel, Jack, and Ashely Too (S5E03)
2049: San Junipero (S3E04)
2050: USS Callister (S4E01)
2050: White Christmas (2014 Christmas Special)
2051: Hang the DJ (S4E04)
2055: Black Museum (S4E06)
2061: Metalhead (S4E05)
I'll hav no doubt missed some out so please post them here and comment on the order of what I think seems most likely

Do you actually rate this show since the transition to Netflix?
I'm a big fan of the show but it's gone so downhill since it moved from ch4.
Smithereens is the only recent episode that is truly excellent, purely down to Andrew Scott.
Greetings. I arrived on Planet Earth from Planet Zambodia 333 years ago to rule Bongoland, as Prince of the Mongos -

Hopefully it keep on going the way it does Mongo
I read somewhere that Charlie Brooker is hoing to have a side piece called Red Mirror which solely focuses on the horror trope stories, that could be fun

I may have seen it but that's going back 15 years now and so I can't quite say for sure
I'll see if I can't find some clips on YouTube and see if it jogs any memories, if it doesn't I'll certainly find a copy. I do like me some British zombeh action comedy
