Okie dokie!
Your man form Shetland was from Glasgow. Just imagine his character was modelled upon an even better version of what you got with him. In a city filled with bandits. That's Taggart!

The BIG question Elle is Primeval versus Christopher Eccleston and David Tennent's Doctor Who?
They were competing against each other for airtime back before people could just press a button and catch what they wanted on TV
You can see why Primeval didn't keep getting renewed as it didn't stand a chance really

Where were the VCRs? LOL
Primeval had 5 seasons. It was time to end it. There is an American/Canadian one season sequel but Im not paying to watch it. -

I used my VCR Elle, but not a lot of people did and when they did they often messed it up
It took until TiVo before people started figuring out that they could go out, have a good time, and come back with their favourite shows on various channels waiting for them.
Probably changed the game with viewing numbers but streaming wasn't too long behind and we know we can get them easily enough now

The show started in 2007. By then, ppl should be well-versed in VCRs etc.

By 2007 VCRs in the US were almost done.
We had DVRs.
I haven’t discussed tv habits with UK people but damn!
Everyone had VHS players. Video rental shops were just about everywhere!
Some could even record things that they were watching
But setting a VHS recorder to record a certain channel at a certain time while you were out or sleeping… Not so many
And don't get me started on the adhesive tape that apparently meant you
couldn't record over something
or you
DEFINETLY COULD

Wow!
I worked VHS out in 1983.
I think it was a betamax iirc?
By 2007 those were nonexistent. By 2007 DVD’s shops were going under. -

Back when Red Box and Netflix were just them uppity upstarts Elle
Betamax were finer than VHS' but they just didn't win that old battle. Then it was the top loader versus the front loader and things settled down until the late 90's with DVDs (Via a failed Laserdisc).
Who knows where it will be 10 years from now?

Unless there's some spooky dooky Black Mirror stuff going on where they can just pop you back in a cassette player equivalent and start you back up as a hologram or something

Why would they want to?!
I liked that Oona Chaplin episode. Black Mirror was decent until they incorporated the US except for The USS Callister. -

I still like Black Mirror (Even with the US Netflix involvement).
But you do see the change though. Same with Cunk on Earth/Life

Black Mirror can be stellar.

Never heard of this.
