I think he had a smirk because he got his revenge on the old man and essentially got away with it. A true sociopath.

I don't think so. He seemed genuinely shocked and upset when the old man shot himself. He had a gun himself that he was pointing right at him. He could've killed him himself but he was just hiding like a scared kid. Not exactly murderer material. He didn't seem happy until he had a crowd of people taking his picture and filming him. He wanted to be famous. He said he'd do anything for a million YouTube views. He finally got what he wanted.

People need to stop throwing around the term sociopath so carelessly. The kid was obviously an jerk, but he was far from being a sociopath.

This is not a troll, just my opinion. Your title should really have been "The little beginning of a
              spoiler
..in the last shot". After being burned more than a few times I've stopped reading the boards until I've seen the film but I know a lot of people don't.
When The Sixth Sense first came out I was listening to the entertainment section on the radio and the presenter said "I really enjoyed it and didn't see twist coming that Bruce Willis was dead throughout the film" !!! There was a prolonged silence and you could hear her thinking "oh beep

I know ! it really annoys me when people come on here raging that something has been spoiled when the whole point is to discuss the movie after watching it. strange people.

I will offer one small defense of people who come on the boards before seeing the movie and one reason why spoiler thread titles can be a problem:

                    1. Defense of people who come on boards before the movie: every now and then there isn't much information in the Parent's Guide and the rating terms are kind of ambiguous ("Rated R for graphic violence"). I will sometimes skim the boards before I watch a movie to see if there is mention of something that I'm not up to seeing (like animal cruelty or sexual assault) at that time. When I do this, though, I accept the fact that I might see things that will give away major spoilers.
                    2. As general etiquette I think it's polite not to put spoilers in a thread title. Among other things, at the bottom of each IMDb page it displays a handful of thread titles, so someone not even looking at the boards could scroll down to see other information and end up seeing a thread title with a spoiler in it. Any thread title can end up being displayed on the movie's main IMDb page, and obviously it's not cool to have major spoilers there.

It was meant to reply that Ethan was happy to both get away with murder and knew he was going to get his million views on YouTube.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.
