To us, nope. Not at all. The entire point of the movie was to get you to distance legal morality an innocence from cultural values.
The point was to get you to consider that other cultures have different values, and it went to extremes to do it.
Not that any of it matters. You missed every single point by about a mile. -

Except that empathy and compassion are not a modern or Western concept; what they did (especially the torture) was not because of a culture difference, but a choice they made to hurt others.

Yep, that was my impression as well. I know that Roth actually is big into conservation (I think he's some sort of dolphin activist or something, in particular), so it would make sense that his "message" is that the tribe really isn't evil.
Pretty dumb, since no one would ever be so apologetic about white savages. -

exactly right. Dopey ignorant college kids wanting to justify their existence and guilt by jumping on whatever cause is convenient or popular at the time. And somewhere out there is a big dose of reality showing how wrong they are. Too bad it cant be cannibals every time.

You must didn't get the point of the movie? The girl basically didn't blame them for anything. I'm very liberal, but I'm not chaining my self to a tree. I also hunt and fish. Liberals don't have to walk lock and step like conservatives.

It's moronic liberal university students exiting the fairy tale world they live in and entering the real world. They get fk'n destroyed by the harsh world outside of their bubbles and safe spaces. They get a dose of reality where the real world is 180 degrees the opposite of what their professors told them it was.

And right-wingers yet again prove beyond all doubt that they couldn't find their own asses if they didn't have their heads up them.
There are 8.2 billion people in the world. 8.19 billion of them have never heard of and don't give a fuck about Charlie Kirk. Get over it.
