It was extremely obvious why she did it.
The logging companies were the greater of the two evils. The cannibals would never have attacked the protesters if a) the loggers hadn't been slaughtering the cannibals to harvest the forest b) the protesters weren't dressed like loggers c) the logging company hadn't sabotaged the protesters plane to crash and d) Alejandro hadn't been working with the loggers to use the protesters as cannon fodder.
If a zookeeper throws a person into a zoo enclosure and they get mauled to death by animals, you don't go and shoot every animal in the zoo and let the zookeeper walk off.

She was just trying to get one over on the logging company. They were the guys who shot down her plane and who were, in turn, responsible for her friends getting captured and eaten. Telling the truth would have given them free reign. it wasn't about protecting the tribe (most of whom were dead anyway, in case you forgot), just about making sure the real bad guys didn't get their way. PC had nothing to do with it.
