For my understanding, I think she lied because it's her way to protect the jungle that they were trying to protect in the first place. Remember those parts when her other companions kept telling her about the benefits they could reap of their activity. Like for e.g., the black guy where he let her show the jungle during their plane ride or their schmuck leader stating that he did what he did (where he made a deal with another logging company) in order to be able to implement his plans or as he sees it in a bigger picture. Basically, since all the media were tuning in to her story now, it would be a waste of the opportunity and the death of her companions would be for nothing.

She did it to preserve the rain forest. If she says the natives killed them all then they would continue with cutting down the rain forest but she says the natives were good to her so it makes people think twice about cutting down the Amazon.

So she lied for the "greater good"? Okay I see the logic there though personally I really really wanted to see the natives genocided.

I posted this comment on another thread, but here it is for you:
That's the culture of the village. They aren't evil per se. That's the only thing they've ever known. They're a product of their environment. The villagers killed the activists b/c they felt threatened by them thinking they were part of the corporation that was bulldozing their environment and trying to kill them. Remember the scene at the beginning w/ the teacher explaining female circumcision and the teacher explains that's a part of another culture and that it's seen as acceptable there. Same logic.
The main character couldn't forgive that guy and left him, because he simply exploited the villagers to gain fame. He knew that they would get killed and that they would lose their homes, but choose to do so, so that he could get more popular and his organization would as well in the process.
Remember the guy's girlfriend asks the main character if she's doing this for the right reasons and she responds yes. The boyfriend (or the guy left in the cage) wasn't. On top of that, he consciously offered up one of the fellow members as a sacrifice to the tribe.
Justine lied to protect them and what was happening to them.

Oh good. I was worried Nazis were evil, but now you've assured me since that's their culture I should respect it and they aren't evil.
Anyways, seeing as the natives didn't mutilate and eat each other, it's pretty safe to say that they actually do know killing people is frowned upon. This isn't that complex of an issue

To push the plot point that Alejandro is now the head honcho. Somehow. As depicted by a satellite photo. Awful

would you kill all wild animals in amazon because they can eat a human? this is their natural life. if a tiger hunt a human nobody call it a killer. she noticed that and let them live there. this is nature rule.

Oh, so you mean the people of this native tribe are just a bunch of wild animals, totally driven by instinct and incapable of rational thought like, say, a jaguar or a python?
                                  In other words,
                                  they're
not human, and can't help themselves; it's just their nature.

That's not even close to the same thing.
Human's are supposed to know better and be more evolved. Also it's not like they killed these guys in their sleep, they all had horrifying deaths. Especially the first guy. He had his eyes, tongue & everything until he eventually died. If I saw that, there's no way I would have lied when I got back.

Some people say that she did it to save the boy, but wouldnt he get killed for helping her in the first place anyway? i certainly wouldnt put it past them to kill a boy, seeing what they were capable of.
The tribe should be killed, even if it was their "nature" to kill and they were just "animals"; with that logic, its justifiable to kill them, because of Darwinist "survival of the fittest" - we have the guns, we take your land. After all, the tribe didnt think twice about using weapons against the prisoners.
And to say the others would have died for nothing if she gave up the tribe? If I was killed by cannibals I thought was worth protecting, I would definately want Justine to rat them out and get the wiped of the surface of the earth.

Because this movie is essentially a remake of
                                          Cannibal Ferox
and the surviving character does the same thing at the end of that movie too.
