So the aliens communicate with a language that allows them to see the future. Louise learns the language so she can see the future now too ok sure.
What I don't get is the reason the aliens came to earth? So Louise can use her weapon? Don't they have the ability to see the future themselves? They would have to be able to see the future to know what is going to happen in 3000 years. So why did they need Louise??? And why this early? Why not wait til maybe like 2500 years in the future closer to whatever is going to happen to the aliens 3000 years later. -

I just took it that the genesis of the deal had to be done now and in this manner, for it to succeed in 3000 years time. Like the monolith facilitating the use of technology with early mankind in 2001: ASO. -

The way I got it is that the aliens needed Louise to spread their language to humanity. She was the only one who was able to communicate and learn their language in relatively short time (in contrast to the Chinese who were trying to communicate by means of a strategic game). Sure the aliens can see the future, but they cannot communicate with humanity (yet). Whatever it is the aliens need the help of humanity for in 3000 years, it probably won't hurt if the human race and aliens can communicate smoothly by that point.

So you think the "weapon" the aliens want humans to use is something else not mentioned? I thought the "weapon" was Louise's ability to see the future. That's what confused me because the aliens can already see the future.

The weapon is the alien language. As soon as Louise leanrt it she was able to see glimpses of her future. Thats the weapon to give humanity.for us to learn the language and not be slaves of a linear time.they needed to tell us theyll need our help in 3000 years so we get the technology and also so we dont kill eachother and unite as a team.

This.
It's the seed required or something. It's not explained, and it's not really relevant actually.

I wondered this too. One thought I had is that in 3000 years, humans were what was causing their woes, much like they nearly did in this movie. By being proactive and establishing a relationship and rapport with the humans, they might be preventing the mystery event from ever happening in the first place. Basically it could be that they were making allies before they had a chance to become enemies.

Knowing things is the only thing that gives life meaning. Otherwise why not just get rid of life and just have rocks? Or nothing at all, for that matter?
If all time already exists, then why not know it? The existence of all events doesn't mean knowing doesn't exist. It just means we're aware of the relationship between the those things.
