Do you think it will get an Oscar Nomination for Best Picture?

No. Not enough meat on them bones. It really wasn't deep enough, or even tried to obtain depth. CONTACT does so much more with its run-time, addresses so many more societal concerns.

Contact is one of my favorite films. Although to be fair to this filmit wasn't really so much about societal concerns as much as it was about a mother and her daughter IMO. At least in the short story I suppose. The movie added some things that kind of dilute this point unfortunately. It made it more about the reveal than about the personal emotions/thoughts of Louise.

You have good taste.
Unfortunately, Mother/DeadFutureDaughter stories aren't LOCKS for Best Picture. I don't see this changing anytime soon.

I think it will. It being released later in the year exponentially increases it's chances of a nomination.
The other thing to consider is that the academy will still have #oscarssowhite in their mind. Despite the leads both being white, the film ends with what seems like total world peace. It seems like the type of film that academy would pat themselves on the back for. -

It's a possibility. Remember, they can have up to 10 films now as nominations. Is Arrival one of the best 10 films of the year? Possibly. I don't see it winning though. Moonlight, La La Land, or Manchester by the Sea will most definitely win.

It probably will be because it's a good movie and it's already on the IMDb Top 250 for some reason. However, I can think of at least 10 movies from 2016 that are easily better.
Amy Adams has a good shot at being nominated for Best Actress, too, but I hope she doesn't take a spot away from more deserving performances like Ruth Negga's in Loving or Isabelle Huppert's in Elle.
