arrival is spinoff of interstellar and that's the biggest letdown.its basically same movie with different budget.
both movies are based on that time paradox in 5th dimension, which is like the questionwhich is older chicken or the egg.
in interstellar when cooper enter 5th dimension and start changing time and space,in arrival when she enter 5th dimension tank and start getting visions.
paradox is that she had visions before entering tank,or like cooper couldn't go to space if he didnt already sends coordinates.like i said difference is movie budget, interstellar is big movie in space, arrival is smaller movie on earth, but the idea is same.overall is very good movie, but unfortunately it came out after interstellar which make story just meh

It's actually 'which came first, the chicken or the egg'.
Personally, I don't see any problem with 2 films touching on the same subject and I'm quite perplexed that other people do.
If everyone complained when a new film touched on subject manner from other films no films would probably ever get produced.
Arrival attacks the question of time from a different angle and that is what really should be concentrated on and not that 2 films both attack the same subject.
If you can't separate the 2 films and find their differences look harder. You'll find them.
It's like let's stop making funny movies because I laughed during one last week.

Arrival is based off the book Story of Your Life by Ted Chiang which I think was published in 1998. Not sure when Interstellar was written but I don't imagine they have much in common from that perspective.
