Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Arrival

I saw that the other of the short story Arrival is based on bas partly inspired by slaughterhouse five. I noticed the parallels pretty quickly. Was anyone else getting slaughterhouse five vibes?

I read and loved Slaughterhouse Five, but didn't really get that vibe with this film.
Schrodinger's cat walks into a bar and doesn't.

I've read it a couple of times over the years but I didn't pick up on any similarity.
          So it goes.

I will have read that in the past, so yeah.

              Imagine that.

Yes, but that book is a masterpiece, while Chiang's story and this movie are cloddish failures.
