As a parent who has had to bury his child, I cried simply because..
. the entire movie is about the grief of losing a child, thoughts/emotions when you find out that your child is going to die, and what you would do if you knew your child was going to die at a very younge age before you give birth (although Amy Adams knew even before conception).

So sorry for your loss. It's a feeling I can't imagine, and no doubt this movie was a painful watch at times but is also one of the aspects that makes it so special.
