It's not even the general audiences these days Bobby
I liked Barbie when I saw it and I enjoyed Star Trek: Starfleet Academy just fine for what they are
But those 'knowledgeable' about such things have decided to gatekeep how they should be considered.
Nowadays people seem to be looking to be told which bandwagon to jump on with their patronage rather than think for themselves and make independent decisions based on their actions.
It's OK to like something that someone else didn't and it's OK to dislike something which everyone else loves
The best parts are when you like something that everyone else likes - that's meant to be rare and meant to be a collective memory of the time
But yeah, Lindelof is heavily attached to Lanterns and so I'm expecting it to be guff based off of every single thing he's ever been attached to before -

Oh no not Lindelof!!
Well I will not be watching it then. He is a hack of the highest order.
Also I’ve just watched that trailer that you linked to and it looks dreary droo.
I love it when I like something that the normie masses also like. The problem is that they all quickly move on to the next shiny thing whereas I still enjoy that same one thing. I enjoy it with more depth you see.

I still say that Trading Places is the best movie yet released (By anyone) and that's 42 years old at the moment Bobby
True cinematic genius; visuals, score, script and story, with a proper reach out into general audiences, is a very rare thing.
Getting to witness lightning in a bottle, that will last forever, when it strikes is a gift that keeps on giving -

When was the last time that happened? I can remember people going all GOO GOO GAH GAH over Baby Reindeer before they quickly moved on. Then I can remember folks going all GOO GOO GAH GAH over Adolescence before again…moving on.

Something which brought everyone together, something which people celebrated as a moment shared in time together in collective pleasure of witnessing together, something that is remembered for doing so…?
John Wick was pretty good Bobby
Avengers: Endgame gave everyone a moment to remember after a decade's long story arc
Top Gun: Maverick let people out of their covid quarantines to collective sigh relief together
The Barbenheimer Summer of jest
Squid Game, Severance and The Morning Show (If you've seen them) all gave people an angle to look at their everyday lives in a different light
There's plenty of breadcrumbs that can be the Garfield car windows sucker-on plushie for this era Bobby
Even Minecraft, Wicked and Bluey get their own days for the young uns' to remember when they get older
You just have to look for the love Bobby, it's always there, hiding and wanting to be found -

Two words. Mackenzie Crook!
People go ABSOLUTELY goo goo gah gah over his works at the moment don’t they. The Metal Detectors and that new one with the ghosts.
Then before that, Gavin and Stacey made all of the normies go GOO GOO GAH GAH and it still has the POWER to do that whenever they do one of their seasonal specials.
Are these good examples that I’ve listed there?

I only know Mackenzie Crook from that Channel 4 'Not The 11 O'Clock News' program that had Daisy Donovan, Ricky Gervais and Ali G on it Bobby. I think he had a bit part in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies too (And maybe a voice over in Tin Tin and that Pirates cartoon movie).
I don't know any of his other stuff
And I have never watched Gavin and Stacey
But I'm sure in The Shire, where you are, it's all the rage Bobby -

Ah, the radio
Died for me when Tel did
No more hearing about the opera from Sarah Kennedy, gone is Sally Traffic, no more PopMaster with Ken Bruce, No more Jeremy Vine moaning about bike lanes, Mark and Lard have grumbled their last, gone are the factoids with Steve Wright, Johnnie Walker downed his last dram
I sometimes hear it in shops and the like, it sounds more like Radio 1 used to when I switched over to Radio 2. I'm guessing I must be getting ready for Radio 4 or 5 by now -
Bobby Tomlinson — 2 weeks ago(March 19, 2026 01:00 PM)
Radio 2 now has a lot of the disc jockeys that used to be on Radio 1 when I was young. Jo Wiley, Scott Mills, Trevor Nelson, Sooty…they’re all on Radio 2!

You can find some of your old favourites elsewhere now though. Ken Bruce and Popmaster are now on the Greatest Hits radio and Mark and Lard are on BBC6, only with separate shows.

It’s a nice station. Craig Charles has a funk n soul show on it.
Craig Charles the rapist!??!
I'm only kidding, he got a rougher ride than a Jimmy Savile kiddie from the press over nothing.
Did he ever get a proper apology?
Anyways, he's a mad ferret and I'd be up for listening to his funk and soul show Bobby -

That would be today!
Do i need to get a TV license for it?
No I don’t think so. You just tune in…and enjoy.
FM radios won’t pick it up however. It is a digital station.
