I am NOT overjoyed by this show.
She solves the same dumb crimes they solved on
Murder She Wrote,
and countless other crime shows. It also annoys me how lightly they treat murder. They gleefully show us a new murder each week, and then when the culprit is caught it's
"Oh, you got me Elsbeth. Good job, ha ha."
It's not a good use of a character which was really good on
The Good Wife.

is one of my guilty pleasures, kind of like
Golden Girls
, so I might get a kick out of this if it's silly. I'll just keep my expectations on the low side.

I just watched it tonight, and
it's getting worse!
I knew who the killer was from watching the preview! It was SO ****ing obvious and SO stupid!
I LOVE the character of Elsbeth, but

Ughh. That's not promising. I'm usually willing to give things a few episodes to see if it grows on me. There are a number of series where I didn't like it the first time around, or I didn't like it until I got a few episodes in, but at some point, you need to know when to cut bait.

I do as well, which is why I was willing to give it a shot. If there's an actor or actress that I really like, I'll often push reviews aside just to check things out. For some, I'll watch anything they're in, just because they're in it, like Gary Oldman, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie (I have to separate her contemptuous toxicity from how much I love her as an actress and how beautiful I find her), Johnny Depp, Helen Mirren, Uma Thurman, Tilda Swinton, Keanu Reeves, and of course, Tom Cruise.

I'll probably keep watching because of Carrie Preston. Hopefully the writing will improve.

Oooh, you've got some good ones in there! Christopher Walken, Morgan Freeman (who from now on, I always picture as "the face of God" and I can't shake that since he was perfect in the role!), James Spader (Blacklist has been good, but I stopped when she turned and joined forces with her mother and when they did that animated episode…it went downhill from there, and I made a big time investment). Colin Farrell is fantastic, and a true artist at his craft. He can morph himself exceptionally well. RDJ, well, d'uh! That goes without saying!

This show has gotten even
dumber
this year, and now she and some of the other characters just irritate me. She's a smart aleck know it all, and her quirkiness has grown old and tired.
I've already deleted several episodes without even watching, and may soon cancel it.
