This is definitely top-tier Clint, and it’s ironic that a film about justice was done a grotesque injustice by Warner who gave it a criminally tiny theatrical ‘run’.
Christ, watching this film was like oxygen to a drowning man - a mature legal thriller for adults
Unfortunately it takes a 94 year old living legend to get this kind of film, which was being cranked out several times a year in the 90’s, even made in today’s ****ty collapsing world.
Everything is done to perfection. It’s really a Hitchcockian thriller - a guy has a secret we share and we watch as the walls close in. He has an escape route but it will come at a terrible price. We’re emotionally and psychologically with him all the way as he tries to navigate an impossible predicament. Modern movies feel like screensavers by comparison.
Rich ideas underpin a rock-solid script and sturdy direction. The fantastic cast all bring it - Hoult, Collette (reuniting after About A Boy 22 years ago), Simmons, Kiefer, Deutch.
Woke? Not a trace of it. It was so refreshing to see a new film that respected one’s intelligence and didn’t feel the need to push some vile retarded agenda.
This may well be Clint’s last and, if so, I wish he had appeared in it. Oh well, it’s testament to his talent that he doesn’t need to rely on his legendary star power. He’s a great artist and this film showcases that.
As for Warner… first Nolan, now Clint? That studio can go suck a fat dick

Great premise! Intelligent script and realistic portrayals with good acting. Hoult and Collette are always great. Memorable film and one of my favorites.
Too many good films are now almost unknown by the public or underrated in a dying movie industry.
Watching a streaming film in isolation at home doesn't equal the moviegoing experience.
