I love, love, love Big School. Bad Education I like, but I find it nastier and more cynical than BS, obviously aimed at a certain demographic (hello BBC3 audience). Also, the box-ticking pupils, black, Asian, disabled and the extremeley annoying faaaaaabulously camp guy. I mean yawn, we've seen it so many times
Educating(Yorkshire, East End) used to get on my nerves for all those earnest teachers, desperate for the approval of their pupils but totally unable to control a class, or even an individual. The reason I bring it up was that now I find it hilarious, thanks to Catherine Tait's "inspirational" teacher - "Are you sure you're not being bullied?" - whom I now see reflected in those real-life teachers: you got a sum right! High five and soaring music on the soundtrack! Aren't I inspirational? (Apologies to the twenty something normally-behaved kids in the class who never get any camera time nor education)
BS is a silly, trivial comedy, but it has a little edge under the surface, and deftly skewers these ineffectual teachers whom we trust with our kids.
