I disagree. Affleck got mostly positive reviews for his portrayal,. so I don't think it hurt him at all. I DO think he sees the sorry state of the "franchise" (and remember, he has a lot more access to their plans and how their current productions are going than any of us do) and realized he doesn't want to be THE person dragging this dead heap of a shared universe with no support from the studio and no relief in sight.
If he leaves, I feel it will be because he just doesn't want to be tied to the albatross.

Affleck's career has been taking a lot of hits recently though, and with a solo Batman film, there's no one to share the shame with if it tanks, he's front and center taking the abuse.
He wanted to play Batman, he's done it, now he can slide out and avoid getting more of that DCEU mud on him.

Thanks to Batmeh v Supermeh Yawn of Justice, the "S" now stands for Sidekick

I'd say it's pretty unlikely that he'll leave the role, although he must be really kicking himself for taking this on. Not that Affleck is some precious genius or anything, but clearly the Warner Bros./DC apparatus is totally fvcked, and he's realized this too late.

Ben Affleck never needed Batman, his career peaked with Argo in 2012 then he starred in the critically acclaimed Gone Girl
He never needed Batman before, he doesn't need him in the future

I see the fiasco that was Live By Night seems to have passed you by.
That is why Affleck needs Batman. He needs a big hit to recover from Live By Night.

One box office flop is not the end. Scorsese has had quite a few during the 1980s, and Spielberg recently had one with The BFG.
Minor setbacks won't stop Affleck, nor will it take away his accolades that he received with 'Argo'.
