I understood what J.J. Abrams was trying to do.
I liked it, and I like the plan.
One series that pushes forward and another one that focuses on the classic storyline using new characters.

Rogue One

It was OK. I'd rank it maybe 6/7, above Episode 2.
It's a better made movie than Ep.2, but Attack of the Clones has a much better plot.

It's above episodes I and II but just below III, obviously it's behind the original trilogy
of course i'm damaged, it's tattooed on my forehead isn't it?
