Clark called Martha 'Mom' in Man of Steel

What would saying that accomplish. Superman already showed he knew who he was when he called him Bruce.
Plus he was begging for his Mum's life, so saying "I know who you are" wouldn't fit in that situation.

There isn't a whole lot that would logically make Batman stopbut revealing to Batman that he knows his parents or knows why Batman does what he does stands a better chance of working than "Save Martha." It also doesn't make Superman look stupid by calling his mom by her first name. Almost anything is better than "Save Martha."

Regardless of whether you like the scene, Superman's life was saved because of coincidence, not any forethought on his part or Batman's. It was an accident that Bruce's mother had the same name. That's the way Snyder chose to end their conflict. Not via reasoning but by chance. Trying to argue what would've been a more logical thing to say is missing the point

I'm going to guess it was Terrio's idea. He probably discovered this during his research into the characters.

More horrible judgement by Hack Snyder. Proving once again that he doesn't care about story as long as everything looks "cool."
Like you say, just change "Martha" for "mom" or "mother" and the scene would be the same. The only difference is, the whole world wouldn't be laughing at it..as much. -

when he called her on the phone.. he was in the apartment he shared with Lois.. alone so it was safe to call Martha "mom".
If he says "save my mom".. there's a good chance he'd end up dead quicker and so would Martha because Batman doesn't know who the hell he's talking about. for all Bruce knows, Clark could be talking about an alien mother and at that point he was definitely anti-alien.
the times he called Martha "mom" in Man of Steel. A)he was home from his journey north & B) the 2nd time nobody was around yet so it was safe
IMDB taught me: cynicism is praised. optimism must be stamped out wherever it can be found.
