Watched the film. Did my research, and feel comfortable about all of it, except for one scene. When Elias starts to believe his mother and begins to untie her, Lukas gets mad. They go in the bathroom and fight. Elias is left with a bloody nose. How could he get a bloody nose fighting with a ghost or a figment of his imagination? Every other question i had has already been answered here. Great film btw!!

Well, both he and "Lukas" got a bloody nose, didn't they? I'm guessing Elias was literally arguing with himself and punched himself square in the face, or maybe he thre himself around the bathroom!
You have to take into account that because we're seeing things from his POV, we can't really trust what's happening because it's not what's
      really
happening, but rather what Elias thinks
      is
happening, and as we (viewers) know, his view of reality has been compromised even before the start of the film.
So if you were to be an invisible person witnessing the scene, you'd just see a boy arguing with himself, as if he were two different persons, like Smeagol/Gollum or something.
Fine, fine, I'll leave! But first I'm going to bother these peanuts! Hmm? Yes? Hmm? HMM?
