Whaaaat… that's like the actual good era of Adam Sandler. 90's Sandler was decent. Loved his foray into serious roles, but then **** went downhill.
Do you at least like Billy Madison?

Lol no…I just wasn't a huge comedy fan in the 90s. Most of the flicks that were popular weren't my thing…jim Carey or Sandler…never saw Austin powers…the list goes on and on. 80s was more my decade for laughs

90s comedy seemed too childish/dumb downed.

Yes! I also seem to gravitate towards televised comedy…sit coms and sketch shows…not so much improv tho. Stand up is probably my tru favorite. In comedy motion pics I tended to enjoy Hughes a lot… anything jon candy. I often enjoy stories that make you laugh and cry…like planes trains and automobiles

Also it was dumb comedy so from an adult perspective it’s not as funny compared to being a kid watching it. I watched happy Gilmore all the time as a kid thinking it was a masterpiece 💀

I can totally see that! I was well into my twenties and it just didn't do it for me.
I oddly do like Adam sandler as a personality…he seems very cool and down to earth 🙂👍

I prefer the 80's for movies too, but 90's had some good ones. I feel like the last f consistently good comedies was in the 00's. Judd Apatow's peak was the last of the good stuff for me.

Instead of making comedies, Hollywood has opted for making superhero and Star Wars movies with comedy in them, and I've skipped most of those. I saw and liked all the Deadpool movies though.

Instead of making anything they opt for superhero…even star wars has taken a backseat to it. And I'm not ****ting in them…but there should be room for other genres.

I'm starved for something that isn't a sequel or a remake. I loved that about Sinners. Hope that tells Hollywood to take more chances.
I also miss when indie films seemed to get better funding and distribution.

I had low expectations, and that helped. A lot of the jokes landed flat but some got a chuckle. I was able to enjoy it for what it was.
One thing I don't get is
why did they kill off the partner when the actress was stil partof the movie? Usuallythey do that when an actor doesn't want to come back to a sequel. I guess it was to bring him back to the bottom, but I don't know. Seemed like there was a better way.

That's how I felt the first time watching 50 First Dates, although that one was better than this. But like damn, it had me questioning what kind of life that would be and had me wondering what it was like to lose your memory like that.

I like all the early ones, but the more recent stuff usually isn't my thing.
I used to love him on SNL when I was a kid too.
Have you seen Spanglish? I feel like that one has the right mix of seruous and funny from him. Same for Big Daddy. I actually ****in cried (and laughed) at "I wipe my own ass! I wipe my own ass!"

Spanglish is his only good movie in my opinion.

                                          Pretty much, yeah
There's a type of comedy that I don't find funny and he's right centre put in front of lots of it
Don't get me wrong. I know I'm the odd one out here. I've seen people watching Adam Sandler movies all over the world. He's clearly someone who people can connect with and he makes them happy. Mr Bean would be another 'character' that seems to have universal appeal and I happen to like those skits and so I'm not sure what it is about Adam Sandler's type of comedy that doesn't gel with me
And meeting and liking the chap just made me feel more uneasy with myself
But that's how people roll I guess.
Spanglish was brilliant though. Probably because the comedy wasn't the main thrust of the story and maybe that's why it resonated with me
