Objectively speaking it's pretty trash, but entertaining enough to watch once for nostalgia.

I like all the early ones, but the more recent stuff usually isn't my thing.
I used to love him on SNL when I was a kid too.
Have you seen Spanglish? I feel like that one has the right mix of seruous and funny from him. Same for Big Daddy. I actually ****in cried (and laughed) at "I wipe my own ass! I wipe my own ass!" -

Pretty much, yeah
There's a type of comedy that I don't find funny and he's right centre put in front of lots of it
Don't get me wrong. I know I'm the odd one out here. I've seen people watching Adam Sandler movies all over the world. He's clearly someone who people can connect with and he makes them happy. Mr Bean would be another 'character' that seems to have universal appeal and I happen to like those skits and so I'm not sure what it is about Adam Sandler's type of comedy that doesn't gel with me
And meeting and liking the chap just made me feel more uneasy with myself
But that's how people roll I guess.
Spanglish was brilliant though. Probably because the comedy wasn't the main thrust of the story and maybe that's why it resonated with me

I rewatched all of his stuff endlessly through maybe Click. Definitely feel like he's fallen off since then or I just outgrew it. Did love Uncut Gems though and the basketball movie he did for Netflix wasn't bad.

Some tragedy was needed for the downfall and comeback, but I agree that was too much. It easily could have been that his career was beset by injuries and he ended up getting divorced or something.
