It's on Amazon idk if any of the seasons are available on physical DVD or not. I really enjoy it, although you should know that the characters are all terrible people but that's kind of the point, you're supposed to be watching bad people get better, it's not supposed to be a show about good or even evil but sympathetic characters although they do become sympathetic at times usually only to become unsympathetic soon again. It has great acting, it deals with a lot of issues really well, it's really funny sometimes, and it's incredibly well shot.

.
To correct what the previous poster said these are NOT bad people not one single one of them is bad. A lot of them are effed up, but they aren't bad. Many of them are good and most of them are funny.
Oh, okay.

I was going to add something, but the IMDB website was offline for a while.
Anyway, my recollection is that you are a fundamentalist Christian, in which case I do not think you would like this series at all. It's almost entirely about about lesbians and transsexuals, and there is a lot of lesbian and transsexual sex.

I agree with you. I came here to ask this same question and your explanation was very helpful. I couldn't get through the first episode. Watching the main character schlep around the mall with that broken shoe and seeing him drink that Gatorade he couldn't pay for annoyed me, but maybe that was the reaction that was intended? You're right, they ARE bad people. It's open to interpretation, no one should be jumping on you for your astute opinion. Thank you for offering it!

I'll give my answer again, as I saw it posted earlier in the link above.
The episode you are referring to is from Season 3 Episode 1. I can't tell if you have watched the other seasons. I would imagine this show is not for everyone, but I found it interesting from the GetGo. Not to say I have enjoyed all the episodes, but there are many I have. Still trying to find my favorite, but I think I like mostly scenes from some of the episodes. If you have not watched from the beginning, I would suggest going there. If you have already watched the first 2 seasons, and you are upset with the first episode of Season 3, it's probably not your cup of tea so to speak. Elizah, or Season 3, Episode 1 was not one of my favorites, but it may have set the footwork for a later episode where Mort/Maura gets some medical advice to his transformation. -

I think it's one of the most touching shows. The characters are realistic, they have good and bad qualities. They have poor judgement. Life frequently does not work out for them, but they are survivors.
The writing is fantastic, it's interesting without being over the top with plot twists. It manages to keep a good pace without crazy plot devices.
The soundtrack is beautiful. The cinematography is warm and muted, contrasting the sadness that keeps surfacing in these people's lives.
There are some weird flashbacks, and some supporting characters are not fleshed out as much as they could be (Carrie Brownstein, Anjelica Houston)
BUT it deserves every award it wins. It's not for everyone, it's very melancholybut so is life. I think it's in my top 10 shows currently airing. -

The first season is really good then it went downhill, imo. The characters become unbereable and the cast of some of the worst, most spoiled and entitled human beings on a tv series ever. I can't stand Josh.
