Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Wolf Hall

It's amazing that after all the different takes on this subject, something so intelligent and unusual can be created. Mark Rylance has such quiet conviction and underplayed power that many awards await. Having read both books I was ready for a less idealized Tudor portrayal. I could see where it might come off as slow. I see it as beautifully paced . There are no big climaxes, there is no Hollywood crescendo of music. Like the books this is a minimal take.

Thank you for you thoughtful views. I wholeheartedly with you. Wolf Hall is a delicious and satisfying drama. I am grateful I can appreciate a slower paced drama.

Rylance floored me. I can't recall the last time I saw an actor deliver such a restrained, understated performance so brilliantly.
