To be fair, she's being hired to portray a role. It's not any different than the guys who are always hired to be the mafia/mob boss, or the geek, etc. It goes the same with woman. And yes, part of it comes from the way they look.

I have taught acting and have wondered why her character is better-than-thou, standoffish and, except for the last couple of episodes, talking down to the rest of the team as if they are all probies.
She's an FBI-agent from a big city, and she feels superior to "navy cops" from a small town, until she actually gets to work with them and realize that they are just as good at their jobs as she is.
Same thing pretty much always happens on NCIS (and its spinoffs). When a person from another agency joins a case, they think that they're better, but in the end they realize that the NCIS-people are just as competent.

It does seem that agencies believe in a pecking order, with FBI definitely and ATF somewhat thinking they are above NCIS. Of course, when Abigail Boren and her CGIS folks first showed up, it seemed like the mothership crew felt like the superior agency.

Yeah, it reminds me of a line from Fornell to Gibbs on the original show. "Mossad lies to the CIA. CIA lies to the FBI. l lie to you. I don't know who you lie to,
being the bottom of the armed Fed food chain
          , and not married."

I think she has a thing for Pride and is hiding it. My question is how does she run with those super tight pants. ?

The writers aren't going to pair her with Pride. They're making her gay all of a sudden. See Dec 13th episode. Go figure.

Thanks for the infoBut from a jokingly side of things she still harbor crossing the line and going into Pride zone. A ratings Bonanza. I'm already smiling to myself at the snickers his team members will make of it. I also wonder about two things, is being gay the reason she doesn't want to stay, gal pal is in Wash. Or she doesn't want them to find out. The second thing is has she been gay her whole life.

She used to live in New Orleans and was married to the developer who stole a whole lot of money from New Orleans with the rebuilding scam after Katrina.

Sounds like the mayor or someone he knows. I would be willing to bet it turns out he is involved.

I know that a lot of you do not particularly like Vanessa but I am wondering. I have taught acting and have wondered why her character is better-than-thou, standoffish and, except for the last couple of episodes, talking down to the rest of the team as if they are all probies. I have also tried to sympathize with her and I have a hunch she may be disliked because the writers want her to be like that. In episode 8, you can at times sort of feel that she would like to switch over to NCIS and be easy as the rest of the team with a relaxed atmosphere and at other times, she switches back to the rigid serious behavior of an FBI agent. I will give her the benefit of the doubt and hope that what we see is her character and not her real self.
Like Trixie said, she has the same personality in everything. I truly hate her acting.

Your post is right on the money How convenient that she is gay or Bisexual just to keep her away from Pride. His wife has been long gone so what are they saving him for. Even super rigged Gibbs gets numerous exes and even an occasional hookup.
Back to the topic First they make her super bi$cy Then write her as gay just to quiet the Pride and her shippers.. Seems like a long way to go for such a small task.

I think I've mentioned this in some other thread, but Gregorio's sexuality is not something spontaneous that the writers came up with as an attempt to silence Pride/Gregorio-shippers. CBS' entertainment president spoiled already before season 3 even began that the character was a lesbian, so it was always planned.
