This film was fantastic for what it tried to be. A fairly low budget horror-comedy in the veins of Gremlins and the likes. Have people forgotten about this subgenre? Are people not open for a mixture of whimsical horror made for a younger generation while honoring the older with these great practical effects and a classic movie score? Whats happening here? I'd watch Krampus over any MCU movie any day. But since the majority of people have a crappy taste, we have to suffer.

I agree with you. But you don't have to attack the MCU to justify your position. I know it's cool to attack the big popular series right now especially when trying to defend an underrated movie. This looks silly especially when these movies have nothing to do one another.
That being said I had a blast with this movie. Its not perfect but it's certainly fun! It did remind me of B movies of the 80s. -

This was a fun movie. I don't know much about the production history, but I never got the impression that this was a softened version of an intended Hard-R horror movie, so I wasn't bothered by the PG-13 rating. There definitely could have been, and probably will be, a darker and much more violent mainstream Krampus film, but it never seemed like this was meant to be that film. With that said, Krampus never felt like it was aimed solely at children either, which says a lot for a movie that features CGI gingerbread men.
I am not surprised that many people dislike this movie, given the ambiguous ending and lack of gore, but I really enjoyed it. I found it entertaining, creative at times and unique.
My latest movie: Available internationally here!

Did this movie get a lot of hate? My impression is that it was positively received overall.
The only people I've been seeing hate from are the hardcore gore-fetish horror fans who think any horror movie that doesn't have over the top violence and show every single detail in graphic closeup isn't worth watching. -

As soon as I hit "play" and the PG 13 slate appearedso before even a second of the film played, I said to my wife, "Oh, this is going to have a lot of negative commentsit's PG 13. A lot of horror fans categorically hate PG 13 horror films."
