Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Fear Thy Neighbor

Best to stay away from your neighbors, unless they're related or you've been friends previously. Just because they move next door doesn't mean you should try and be friends with them.

I think the lesson is this. When your neighbors are acting like sociopaths, MOVE OUT!

Most people are just plain petty. The majority of these feuds stem from first world problems and the people involved should be ashamed for even engaging in the first place.
This show reconfirms my desire to be an antisocial neighbor. I'll wave and make small talk, but they aren't stepping foot in my castle.

Exactly. I learned the hard way to NOT to try and be friends with your neighbor's. Sure, things may go well for a long time but as the OP stated people are petty. One remark they don't like or one action you do that they don't and it turns south, quick. It could be a harmless remark towards their kidsanything.
Luckily, where I live now I'm surrounded almost entirely by elderly people. Some elderly folks are always looking to complain about something but I've noticed that they basically stay inside, and as long as I'm not causing bother they leave me alone and I return the favor. My nextdoor neighbor's are in their late 80's and early 90's and they are really nice when I used to talk to them and we just waive to each other now and then. The other nextdoor neighbor has maybe said "hello" at the most 5 times in as many years but she's not rude or anything.
Unlike like my last neighborhood, I never see one neighbor walking across the street or to the house next doornever. So there's no groups ganging up or spreading stories about anyone. Kinda nice. Last neighborhood.geeshI never really had any problems myself but my next door neighborwhen he got out of jail it didn't take long for people to hate him. And we were cool so he'd knock on my back door at midnight or just walk over and borrow tools like it was his house and that got old. Right before I moved he had one pit bull that would get out and it attacked the dog of the people across from my house so they called animal control and started a world of mess.bottom line everyone hated him because he had boats in his yard, crab traps everywhere, just didn't take care of his house like the rest of us did. And there's many more stories than that! You don't wanna know lolI was just so glad to be out. I wish my neighbor wasn't in such bad financial shape as I know she'd never offered for him to move in.but when you're losing your house and your ex-boyfriend will pay off your house when he gets out of prisonI guess you gotta do what you gotta do!
Sad, though as it was a really good area before that
Now I just stick to myself. We can be acquaintances and friendly but not friends. Not worth it IMHO

Lesson is cops don't do ****. Most of these situations could've been resolved if the police gave a damn.
