    This was an interesting episode.
The one thing that I noticed was Kate's voice. It didn't strike me as a natural way of speaking. It sounded like she was reading off a script.
    Did anyone get that impression?

Yes, another poster and me said the same thing. IMHO it was someone else's voice reading her words/script.

There was another thread about this a while ago, they found LaDonna's hand on a neighboring roof months later.

I looked up the case details after seeing this episode, and you're right - it was completely re-enacted, even the shadowed confessional parts from "Kate." I'm trying to find the link where I read the explanation for doing it that way (it struck me as odd since "Donna" is dead and therefore not a danger to anyone anymore), but I think it said that the real "Kate" wasn't actually involved in this show at all, and that ID recreated the crime using file footage and police interviews, without having access to the real people in the feud, unlike their usual episodes. So essentially they had to use an actress to stand in as "Kate" and read lines based on her statements to law enforcement.
I was surprised to see that this happened back in 1999, too - much longer ago than I realized! If you're interested, just search for "Pacifica van bomb" and you'll find the newspaper coverage of the case. The show seems to have stuck pretty accurately to the details. What a story!

It's rare to watch a. Ep. of this show without realizing that both sides are lying and in the wrong to some degree. But with this episode it's 100% the fault of the crazy neighbor. I don't feel Kate was even in the wrong for her car incident with Donna. She had had enough. Even Donna's husband new she was loony tunes and left. Her other family knew it too. And look what ended up happening. Thank God she was stupid and only hurt herself.
And in every episode, it's like they have to have a law enforcement person come on and say "well, just because you have all these things happening to you (even on tape sometimes!) there's nothing we can really do" And then they act shocked when it goes bad. They should go over there, tell these people to cut it out, and if they don'tthey're going to start bringing people to jail next time they get a call out there. I've seen the police do it where I live. And it worked

                  Agreed. 100% agreed.
I thought that Donna had bipolar disorder, but the revelation of drug use made sense too.
It's a shame that her family couldn't help.. I wish laws were different so we could actually make people get help.
The one thing that I noticed was Kate's voice. The way she spoke just didn't seem natural to me. It was almost like she was reading off a script.

I noticed that too! And someone just posted a thread about itI assumed it was someone else's voice. Boy she must still be terrified.
