The lead female heroine in a comic adaptation TV show needs to be attractive, Melissa Benoist isn't even average, not to mention her lady parts have been all over the internet, hardly classy. gabriella wilde aka Gabriella Calthorpe, should have been chosen, or at least someone more eye catching for the straight guys watching.

Definitely not ugly at all, don't know what people are saying. However, I always imagined Supergirl to be sexy, hot, a goddess not plain or average like Melissa Benoist is. Someone like Laura Vandervoort definitely fit the part look-wise, however I do believe Melissa Benoist is a better actress.

I get what you are saying, but quite often an actresses beauty detracts from her performance when she's supposed to be taken seriously.
I'm glad they knocked it down a notch, although I'd like it if her hair were a little blonder. -

Yup.
She's basically the female Grant Gustin.
Vandervoort is more in the league of someone like Amell.
But this is a feminist show. Plain Jane Benoist's casting is in line with that. -

Benoist is a better (appearance wise) Supergirl than Vandervoort was. That nose on Vandervoort. She's not ugly, but that's not a nose the girl of steel should be spouting.

They wanted a Plain Jane for the female audiences to relate to.
So true and don't forget they wanted a hot guy for her to lust after
Boston and Philly love to slander us, but they don t have as many fans as us -

She's too average for Supergirl.
But guess what that's what CBS wanted.
They didn't want a chiseled godly model type.
They wanted a Plain Jane for the female audiences to relate to.
Well that's stupid. That's like casting a regular-looking guy to play Thor so that plane Joe male audiences can relate to him.
This is so stupid. Superheroes are SUPPOSED to be impossibly good-looking. This really was a dumb move. -
