to be able to pretty much clean Kara's clock in every battle they had together.
How is he that much more powerful than a Kryptonian?

because he is by now a kryptonian-human hybrid with alien tech cyborg enhancements.
kryptonian-human hyrids in the comics are basically kryptonians, powerwise(save for the superboy conner kent who had to be weaker due to plot reasons). so giving a kryptonian "power ups" through technology creates something stronger than a kryptonian.
all of this is of course guesswork. i doubt we ever really get an explanation.

        He outclassed her easily
though I felt sorry for the actor with the lines he had to utter.

But see, that's the problem. She is from the same planet as Superman and has all the same powers as any other Kryptonian on Earth, yet she is the only one that is constantly in mortal danger.
            Victims, aren't we all?

Kara basically get's her clock cleaned in every episode no matter who the villain is. For someone who is suppose to be at least in the top 10 of most powerful DC characters the show doesn't show that. They down play her powers drastically and I understand but come on.

Superman and Supergirl are about #54 on the list of the most powerful characters in DC comics.
Above them are Darkseid, obviously, Trigon, Raven's father, who is about #17 on the list. Makes Darkseid look weak as a kitten. 🙂
Swamp Thing is more powerful than Superman, but Swamp Thing is also an Elemental God, so hey.
The Presence is number one, because you can't beat God. 🙂
Lucifer Morningstar is second, and well, the one thing Superman has in common with Lucifer is extreme willpower, but Lucifer is still about a trillion times better at willpower, and indominable will.
Superman still has more willpower than anyone else in the comics, but they almost never let him use this, since he can actually alter reality with his willpower when he uses it. 🙂 And he actually has, by the way. 🙂

I wonder where The Presence fits now, and if Elaine can claim the top spot, since she basically has the power.
Lucifer Morningstar is second, and well, the one thing Superman has in common with Lucifer is extreme willpower, but Lucifer is still about a trillion times better at willpower, and indomitable will.
Lucy pretty much is the source of "willpower" in the DCU. Or, at the very least, its codifier.
Superman still has more willpower than anyone else in the comics, but they almost never let him use this, since he can actually alter reality with his willpower when he uses it. 🙂 And he actually has, by the way. 🙂
I don't recall that you got a citation handy?
                  Not doubting, just curious.

Unfortunately, I don't remember the entire story-line, but there have been moments in the comics where Superman has actually on a low level, influenced the world around him, by his sheer force of will.
They weren't major incidents or anything, but things in his local vicinity did obey his whims.
Smallville referenced this when he said, "You're right, I am a man of steel." inside the Kryptonite cage, made from the bars that mimic other elements, and turned the entire cage of Kryptonite into steel.
Sorry for not remembering the actual storylines, or the comic numbers.
My memory is faulty at best, and I'm only 34!
And I really need to finish the Lucifer comics series.
                    I'm at Book 10.

I suppose I will have to turn to the all-seeing eye of Google.

Hope you had the pleasure of reading the associated
                      Sandman
                      series.
Also, keep in mind there's a second volume of
                      Lucifer
out now. Currently on issue #12 I think.
