Don't know about Maxwell, but Cat isn't completely gone. It's just that she will appear in fewer episodes since the show moved their taping to Canada and the actor playing her didn't want to move, so she will only appear in a few episodes.
I've got nothing against God, it's his fanclub I can't stand
