well wasnt really a decision in that way. they moved the studio and so some actors and actresses might simply be unable to follow.

The decision was based on whoever moved to Vancouver and who didn't. Calista Flockhart didn't want to move to Vancouver so they changed that part of the story. However, Calista will be in two or three more episodes this season. Don't know which ones though.
